Vandalism

1193 Words

Jess returned to school, walking down the hallway with a bowed head, listening to the whispers and glances that followed her every step towards her locker. It wasn’t unexpected; she had braced herself for the scrutiny. Upon reaching her locker, she was taken aback by the sight of bold red letters glaring back at her. “Murderer” was scrawled across it, a stark accusation in red paint. She looked around in surprise and saw her peers who were staring at her immediately looking away. Blinking back tears, she turned her gaze to her locker, where the accusatory word “murderer” stood out in bold defiance. Determined to maintain her composure, she swallowed hard and mustered the courage to open the locker door, only to be greeted by a cascade of defiled photographs tumbling out of her locker.
