Chapter 20: Questionable MotivesZeke steps back, resisting the urge to rip G’s hand from Elijah’s, but reminding himself a handshake isn’t a contract. Elijah casts Zeke a look like he’s expecting him to challenge his decision, but Zeke isn’t falling into the trap of saying something that can be twisted by G. He contains his frustration until Elijah and Corey finally leave. “I’m trying to understand what your motive is here,” he says, pacing in front of G’s desk.
“Are you? Because it definitely seems more like you’re trying to argue with me and assert yourself over him.” G sighs. “He’ll be fine Zeke. Trust me.”
