Disappointment. Rage. Confusion. Those seemed like fitting descriptions for the emotions roiling through Aihi’s stomach when she saw Ren’s face beneath that mask. Yet, at the same time, they were woeful underestimations when faced with the betrayal of Zahra Nazari’s assistant.
“How could you?” Aihi hissed. “How dare you betray Seiryuu and your Goddess to the magicians?”
Ren’s pale face twisted into a grimace. It looked like Hidekazu had broken his arm. “How dare I?” He laughed. “You must only peek at the internal organs of Seiryuu to know she is rotten to the core. There is no defending the Goddess. No healing this land. It must burn, you along with it.”
