CHAPTER 1

"Lady Kuchiki... it's time for your bath" I rubbed my eyes a few times to lessen the soreness, but it only makes them worse, I guess I never learn its the same process every time. Wait a minute they are being super nice to me today and is highly impossible in this mansion really, maybe they are giving me a break from all the crab they gave me yesterday. I get up to take the bath as instructed, because If I don't obey it would turn into something I don't want to experience again, since today God decided to visit this dreadful mansion. After the usual routine, I am lead through a long hallway that I was well instructed not to take as I am not privileged enough, I guess my husband's grandparents are visiting, well they wanted to live in peace in the country side; I always wish to leave with them every time but that will never be the case as if I have a choice with what happens in my life. I mean I can't even choose the clothes I want to wear; let alone the food I want to eat, everything I do is being monitored even my weight. 'chuckling' I am given weird looks by a mob of servants around me; they placed to cater to my every need; well in reality they are just here to spy on me and report back to my monster-in-law. As we descend the stairs, I see her; the most beautiful woman standing at the bottom of the stairs with a warm smile on her face; I am not saying this because she and grandpa are the only people who I can say love me in this family. I run into her open arms trying not to wince from the pain of last night's punishment; she embraces me like she wants to shield me from this cruel world. "How are you angel?" Grandma asked me while looking in my eyes, does she suspect something, I have to say something. I reply with a full-blown smile, "I am well and has grandma been taking care of herself?", she brushes off my question with a laugh. "Don't worry about this old woman, I am more worried about you?" oh boy here comes the mama bear."Are you happy here?" I reply with an automated reply, "Yes, I am grams, you don't have to worry about me" I hug her again, we enter the dining hall, the whole family in their designated seats waiting for grandma and me. I know what you are thinking she was whining an hour ago, but why would they wait for her highness to come down stairs?, well thats simple; it's because grandma and grandpa are in the mansion so they have to be in their good books. I knew it, today god did come to visit, only on a normal day they wouldn't even bother to even let me dine with them as I have said I am not priviledged enough. There he is the apple of my eye, with his usual stoic face completely unbothered to even join in the conversation, my husband, he is seating at the far end of the table facing grandpa who is seating at the other end; he just got back from his business trip, I don't even know where he went, I mean it's not we even talk. I never saw him with any wrinkled clothes even to show that he had a rough day, he is always neat, is he even human. We both take our respective places then greet everyone. "Christina how are you dear?" Grandpa asked while looking at me with a smile but he eyes are asking a different question and its freaking me out, I just pray he does not say anything that will blow up the roof of the mansion, I just don't want any problems today, but this is grandpa we talking about; he doesn't have a filter. Straightening my back, I replied with a "I am well grandpa" glancing at my mother-in-law who is tightening her hand around a poor fork, I know she wishes it was my neck instead. "Are they taking care of you?". Well thanks grandpa you just put me in the most difficult position, feeling all eyes on me except for one person who has been ignoring my presence ever since we got married, he just ate his food like we were not in the same room as him. "Yes, grandpa they are" I lie of because I cannot tell them the truth; it would cause a commotion and that is the last thing I want. "When am I getting grandkids Christina dear?" As if she cares; I bet she is happy that any of that is not happening, I am not surprised with how she can pretend to care in the presence of the three people in the room, and these people are grandma, grandpa and my hubby; well like he cares about me. "Yes, my dear; I am no getting younger, I want to see my great-grandchildren, what if I pass on without meeting angels you have brought to this world?" Putting my spoon down, I turned to her "Grandma you are not going to die, you still have a long life ahead of you" God forbid it, I can't think of life without these three people in the family. "Obaachan I found this great tea place" Stella said excitedly "Really, where is it?" she asked back with a soft smile on her face. "Next to the flower shop in town," she answered with the same enthusiasm. Grandma's is filled with disbelieve in her voice, as she knows her great granddaughter "That's unusual, since when are you interested in these trivial entertainments dear?" Stella replied with the same enthusiasm as before, she said, "I thought we could spend more time together, when you come to visit and that is the perfect place to do that, it also has this calming atmosphere and the tea is amazing, you are going to love it". With a nod, grandma replied "Okay dear we can go around lunch time" Stella excitedly excused herself to go get ready. Grandma looked worried as Stella was running to fast "Stella, finish your food and don't run you will fall, and there goes the wrecking ball" but she ready out the door and did hear a thing "Christina dear are you coming?", grandma asked me with a soft smile on her face. With my monster-in-law giving me a warning look, I shake my head, no "I won't be able to make it I have lectures the whole day". She nods her head in understanding "Do not over study or you will get sick". I looked at the woman I admire, what would I be without her in my life. I smiled at her. "Grandma you do not have to worry about me, I am perfectly healthy as a horse". She just shook her head, she was not convinced, " You look like you are about to faint, maybe you should skip your morning lecture and rest". "Grandma I am more than alright, you do not have to worry about me. I cannot miss my morning class it's presentation week, 40% of my semester marks depend on this project". Don't be quick to judge me, it was not a lie, besides she does not the real truth behind the fatigue and the pain, not to mention the energy it takes to smile and act like nothing is wrong, if only she knew. She is still worried but she understood my situation, "Just do not over work yourself or else I will cook that soup for you, okay?" My eyes widdened in horror at the mere memory of that horrible soup she once cooked for me, she told me it was to give me energy. I nodded my head at her, " I won't tire my self I promise you grandma." She seemed pretty much convinced with my reaction " Good girl, now finish your breakfa..." She did not have to finish her sentence as i was already stuffing my face with food, she and grandpa just laughed at my reaction, God I love these two people but they can be scary when they want to. With a wounded look my mother-in-law said, "I still do not understand why she has to study Okaasan, when she should be taking lessons on how to be a good wife". Grandma's and grandpa's good mood vanished at her question, not to they are very disappointed with my mother-in-law, and you can hear it in her voice. "We are no longer living in the medieval times, with her being educated, she will be able to help her husband, and it looks like she will need in the future. So, she will keep on studying just in case of any change of fate." A bit startled by grandma's words, I also flinch in surprise at the raspy sound. "What does Obaachan mean?".
