"Were you fit to be the daughter-in-law of this clan?". Toru asked Anna and her face turned sour, that her in-laws are reprimanding her for the sake of that b***h, her hatred for Christina deepened.
"Father, what she meant to say is that Christina is still young be the Lady of the clan and she cannot handle the pressure that comes with the positi..." Nezha tried to help his wife from the hole she has dug for herself, but Toru just let out a cold laugh that it sent shivers down his son's and daughter-in-law's backs.
Yuuki decided to intervene. "Non-sense, that little girl is matured for her age, and she is stronger than she lets on. We are very fortunate enough to have her as part of our family. "
Toru gave both of them a cold smile.
Toru rubbed his wife's back and spoke. "My dear, no need to sugar coat your words to these two idiots. That little girl is stronger than the both of you put together." He then turned to Anna, "Anna what have you achieved ever since you married into this family other acting like the Lady of this clan, when you clearly are not, and you will never be on the same level as Christina. You are to act in a civilized manner and treat that little girl with the respect that she deserves. You will also act like the daughter-in-law of this family. If not so, you will find yourself out of this clan before you can even blink. "
He then turned to his son and said "You are unable to teach your wife the true values of this family, you let your wife wear the pants in this mansion; I expected more from you son."
Yuuki looked at Anna, "Treat her like your child. You never know what life shall bring tomorrow."
Then she turned to the head-maid, "No one is to punish or touch Christina, and you are to tend to her when she comes"
Mrs Crimson bowed her head in respect to Yuuki. "Yes, milady."
As if on cue Christina and Jushiro entered in the living room and she was immediately ingulfed by Yuuki, you could feel the love flowing from Yuuki to Christina and vice versa, Anna was seething on the inside, but she bit her tongue.
"Are you alright, my angel? Are you hurt? You should take a bath then eat, you must be hungry and tired, yes. " She asked with a worried look on her face.
Christina replied with a warm smile. "Grandma, you do not have to worry about me, I am alright."
Still feeling grief of the humiliation Christina has gone through, Yuuki chose to let it go for now, then she turned to Mrs Crimson. "Please run a warm bath for her."
"And, son, please escort your wife to her quarters." Yuuki said to his son as Nezha was about to leave the living room.
"Yes, mother, let's go." He grunted at his wife. Yuuki then led Christina to take a bath after saying her goodbyes at her cousin.
Jushiro looked at Christina with a worried expression till she was out of the living room.
Toru said to Joshiro, "She is going to be alright, son."
Jushiro turned to look at Toru when he started to speak.
"Mr Kuchiki, please protect her, I know she is not a fragile doll, but I can not help but feel worried." Jushiro said to Toru.
However, Toru is not stupid. He can read between the lines of what Jushiro really meant.
Toru understood Jushiro's hesitance, "She is your little sister, you have every right to be worried. We know that is a strong woman. However, we sometimes need people who would look after us. We will look after her, you have my promise. "
After a short while, Toru continued, "With the amount of love she receives, she will be able to handle whatever obstacle that comes her way, and I can assure you, she will be cared for here".
Even after what Toru just said, Jushiro still gave Toru a skeptical look. "I will do everything in my power to protect her for as long as I live."
With a doubtful look on his face, Jushiro said, "I do not know you, sir, but my sister loves, and she trusts you. I trust her judgment enough. However, I can not blindly put her in your 'said' capable hands. Christina might be good at observing people, but she is still naïve, she sees good in people even though she knows they are bad. In the end, she gets hurts the most. It is my duty as her elder brother, along with the rest of our family, to protect her."
Toru looked at the young man in front of him. He then smiled, "I am not god. I can not perform miracles. However, with my family, I would go to any length to ensure their safety."
Joshiro seemed a little satisfied with Toru's answer, yet he was not fully convinced and looked around to calm the rising volcano in his heart before he looked at Toru.
"Mr Kuchiki, find the person who released that information, I don't want to interfere with the matters of your clan."
With an appreciative nod, Toru responded, "I already have someone investigate this matter, and thank you for not interfering with my family affairs."
Toru is impressed with the maturity of the young man in front of him. Even though he might always come off as arrogant, he is still respectful.
Jushiro shook his head, no. "Sir, you really should not thank me yet, because if this matter is not resolved sooner, we will be forced to intervene, with Christina we do not play fair and, her safety is not a business deal that can be negotiated over a meal after we shook hands, she will become a target to every enemy the Kuchiki's have, i..."
