I woke up slowly, remembering I was sleeping next to my mate.
I started to wonder what time it was or if I should open my eyes.
Before I could make up my mind through I heard voices.
" You can't keep this up much longer, Connor."
It was a male. What is another guy doing here talking to Connor? More importantly though. Where did he come from because I don't recognize his voice?
" What other choice do I have?" Says Connor next to me in a soft voice.
" Connor, if we get caught we will all be killed," says the male's voice.
" I know, but don't worry. She won't tell anyone and no one is going to find out," says Connor.
" We know she won't tell, but what if someone gets suspicious and follows her out here and spies on us. The. Turns us in," says another voice.
Wait, that's a woman's voice. There are two other people here. What the heck is going on?
" She's been careful when coming here," says Connor.
" I don't want to get caught and kill Connor, "says the woman's voice.
" Don't worry. I promise you won't get caught or killed. It would be me out of us three who would get killed if we got caught," says Connor.
" You can't talk about getting caught Connor, or killed. You have a mate. Plus, you need to sort out everything that's going on here," says the male's voice.
" I will. I just hope soon people will listen to me and let me explain just what happened," says Connor.
" People will once they know the entire story, but what happens if you get caught and people don't listen?" says the woman's voice.
" I can't get caught. I can't go back. Not to the place I was. You don't know what I went through," says Connor.
" We have a feeling about it, but you're right. We have no idea," says the male's voice.
" If anyone will understand though, it's her," says the woman's voice.
" You have to tell her soon enough," says the male's voice.
" I know, and I will soon once I'm ready. You guys have to promise me something in the meantime though. Please?" Says Connor.
" Anything Connor." says the woman's voice.
" If I do get caught, or something goes wrong, I get killed. Promise me that you will watch over Amber for me? Please, cause if I don't protect here, who will?" says Connor.
" We will protect her with our lives," says the male's voice.
" Thank you," says Connor.
I then tuned out the rest of their conversation because I started to drift off into sleep again.
I fall asleep thinking about what they said.
The next time I woke I felt the sway of being carried.
I opened my eyes, and they immediately landed on Connor.
He was carrying me towards my house.
I think of asking Connor about that conversation I overheard, but I didn't say anything about it because then he'd know I was awake and listening to everything. Instead, I go and say the most obvious thing.
" Hey," I say sleepily.
He looked at me when he heard my voice. " Hey." He responded.
I smiled at him. " You know you could have woken me so we could walk together," I said.
" I know, but I didn't want to wake you till we got to your yard," says Connor.
I lift my head and plant a small kiss on his cheek.
A smile then spreads across his face, and he holds me tighter.
" When I come back here tonight, do you want me to bring you something of your choice?" I ask.
" I'm fine with whatever you choose, as long as it means I get to see you," he says.
" Pizza it is." I say.
He chuckles. " Sounds great," he says.
I grin. Soon we make it to the edge of my yard, and he gently sets me on my feet.
I quickly plant a small kiss to his lips, then hug him tight. " I promise to be back tonight," I say.
" Looking forward to it," he says.
I then let go and back away. " Goodnight Connor," I say.
" Sleep well, Amber," he says, and with that I turn and run towards my house.
As soon as I'm inside, I quickly run up the stairs into my room.
I then look out the window and see Connors looking at me.
I give him a thumbs up, and he nods and flashes me a quick grin before disappearing into the trees.
I turn and quickly get dressed for bed and hop in bed, and before I know it I'm fall asleep again.

The next time I am woken it's by my father.
" Hurry up and get dressed in something nice. The Alpha is meeting with the entire pack at 10:00." he says.
" Yes Sir." I say.
He nods and leaves the room.
I get up and grab a nice v-neck blue dress that goes down till it's a bit over my knees.
I washed my hair before I got dressed and let it dry and stay down.
I clip up one side with two bobby pins and apply a bit of make-up.
I then hurry down the steps to see my father and brother are in black suits and my mother is dressed in a red dress that goes down to her mid-thighs.
When the Alpha meets with the entire pack, it is required that we all dress nicely.
I grabbed an apple to eat on the way.
" Why do we need to meet?" I ask.
" The Alpha is going to tell the pack about the escaped prisoners, who they are, how many they ate, and what they were arrested for, and most of all, who to contact if you need to reach the Alpha as quickly as possible," says my father.
I nod in understanding. We then start walking.
We leave the house and start walking down the street towards the pack house where we'll be meeting in the pack meeting room.
John walks next to me while my dad walks next to my mother, and he gently takes her hand.
John takes my hand in a comradely way. I smiled at him and we kept walking.
As we got closer, I started to think clearly about what my dad said.
If we're finding out about all these guys, then that means...
' We find out more stuff about our mate.' Says my wolf.
My eyes go wide. We get to learn more about our mate.
This should be interesting.
