Kan's eyes widened as he stared at the question before him. He never expected such. He thought of casting a spell on them to put them in a deep sleep, then walk out but neglected the idea and decided to play along, dropping his cutlery whilst lifting his face up.Hesmiled wryl "Actually, I came to see a friend, but on my way home, I was double crossed by some thugs and attacked. my car was destroyed, and my last resort was to run. While trying to escape, I ended up here. " He voiced vaguely. Mr. kang nodded. "What do you work, friend?" "I'm the son of dong-kan, kan-song, C.E.O of kan enterprise. " "What!" Malia exclaimed, highly bewildered. Her eyes widened in amazement, and a bright smile spread across her face. "Wow, you're...you're Mr. Kan!" she exclaimed, she stuttered, feeling a mix of confusion and excitement. Her astonishment turned to delight as she shook his hand, still trying to process the unexpected encounter. She couldn't believe that the guy she had been admiring from afar was not only standing in front of her but also the one everyone longed for. In utter excitement, she took out her phone and had a selfie with him. She uploaded it and was petrified as she watched her social media page grow rapidly. As soon as the photo of her and Mr. Kan went live on social media, her phone began buzzing nonstop. The likes and comments poured in, with many people asking how she knew him, what they were doing together, and what the occasion was. At first, Malia was thrilled to see the attention, feeling like a minor celebrity herself. She had always admired his work and was still on cloud nine after meeting him. But as the questions kept coming, She started to feel overwhelmed. She hadn't expected the photo to blow up like this! "Who is he to you?". "What's going on between you two?",."How did you meet?" The inquiries kept flooding in, and Sophia felt like she was under scrutiny. She started to worry about how her friends and family would react, and even Kan-song's reputation. Mr. kang was taken aback. He glanced at his wife and shifted his gaze back to him. "Do you know of Leeds investments?" " Well, I'm aware, we're business competitors, but he's far below my level." "Then do you must know of Makowa, the C.E.O." Mrs kang chopped in. Kan nodded. "Yeah, I know him. " The kang family panicked and were struck with terror. He readily noticed their fears. "You seem troubled, whatever the issue is, I believe I can help." He soothingly spoke. "This is a top secret, but we'll inform you since somehow, your appearance won our trust." Mr. kang spoke out. Kan-song nodded in agreement as he relaxed his back on the seat. " We once led a life like yours, but suddenly, we became bankrupt and urgently needed help. The Leeds investments offered to assist us." Mr. kang began. As they sat in the dining room, the weight of their bankruptcy hung in the air like a challenge, daring them to confront the reality of their failure. Mr. kang's eyes narrowed, his mind replaying the smooth-talking makowa's promises like a broken record. He had been convinced that their company was on the verge of a breakthrough, that makowa was the key to unlocking their success. The memory of his charm and charisma still lingered, a bitter taste in his mouth. To ensure continual support, they had to wed their daughter to him. But it was all a lie. Makowa had never intended to follow through on his promises. It had been rumoured all over town that makowa offers to marry the first daughter of every family company in return for his favour, but something shocking always happened. After the wedding night, the ladies mysteriously disappeared and were seen no more. They all became stories. When inquiried of their whereabouts, he either attributes it that the lady ran away or exterminates and eliminate the family, deleting them from the earth. And to this, they also became his victims after marrying their daughter to him, but when they found out. They had to leave everything behind and escape to a remote village. He had simply used their company as a means to an end, Mr. kang's thoughts swirled with the memories of their meetings, the way the investor had effortlessly schmoozed them, his words dripping with sincerity. He had left them with nothing but debt and broken dreams, a trail of devastation in his wake. Kan's gaze drifted to his partner, Mrs kang, who sat across from him, her eyes fixed on the floor. The defeat was etched on his face, a constant reminder of their failure. Malia's frustration simmered just below the surface, a potent mix of frustration and regret. She couldn't help but wonder how they had been so blind, so willing to believe in the investor's empty promises. Kan-song's countenance changed, his bright face turned pale, his smiles closed up, and his mingy-tingy feelings arose. "What the hell !" He exclaimed. "Did you contact the police? The three nodded simultaneously. " If the police could be of help, then we would have no problem. He regularly colludes with the police and top government officials, granting him an immunity to the law. To those who try to get him arrested, he hunts them down. We had to run away to live our life here, hiding in disguise. " Malias mum responded. Kan furrowed his brows, his anger fuelling. "But we heard of someone who could help. someone reliable who could assist us and fight tirelessly. Are you in?" Malia asked, staring anxiously at him, hoping for a positive reply. Kan blinked slowly, glancing at the eyes that anticipated his cooperation. Finally, he gave an answer. "I'm on board. You can count on me." Malia hugged his neck from behind, allowing her curls to roll on his side neck before letting him go. "So, who's the helper?" He asked impulsively, brightening his face. "We contacted an officer, a reputable one..." The doorbell called their attention, disrupting Mr. kangs conversation with kan-song. Malia rushed to the door and touched the door knob, opening it slowly. Mr. Kang nodded, and his eyes peered into that of kan. "She's here, our saviour. Agent Clara from the investigation bureau." Kan-songs heart raced out, he felt chill and tensed, constantly looking at them, feeling disturbed. "What's the problem?" Mr. kang asked, noticing the perplexity in his appearance. Kan smiled. "There's no issue." He stated. The door was opened, his eyes went up, and his face instantly froze. " What the f**k! "
