The champagne flute in my hand slipped from my grip and dropped to the floor, shattering into pieces just like my heart as I saw the scene which unfolded before me.
“Axel! What the f**k is the meaning of this?” I asked, my hands balled into fists as I watched Delphine cling unto Axel even more with a sly smile on her face.
“Uhh… Jaydisse, it isn’t what it looks like, I swear,” Axel said as he freed himself from Delphine’s hold.
“This was supposed to be our f*****g engagement party, but you’re having fun with this b***h?” I asked.
“Awww, I’m sorry dear cousin, but it’s your fault… I mean you didn’t give Axel what he wanted, so he had to look for who would comply with all his needs,” Delphine said.
“You just proved to me that you are a cheap cunt. Axel, I’m done with this relationship,” I said and was about walking away when his words stopped me abruptly.
"If you call off the engagement then how will you pay off my family's debts?
That's none of your business, I don't want to ever see you at the threshold of my house again." I said and went to the hall downstairs.
Then my dad walked up to me.
"What's wrong? Where's Axel?" he asked.
"I'm sorry, Dad, but I'm calling off the engagement party," I replied as I walked into the podium, leaving the microphone from the MC.
"I'm sorry everyone, but the engagement has been called off. I apologize for wasting your time. Please, you may leave," I said, dropping the mic harshly on the floor before storming out.
