  I watched as the others gathered their books and headed for the door, talking excitedly about the lecture and their plans for the night. I had already slipped my notes into my backpack and was pretending to look for something while the line of students dragged on.   I felt old. I hadn’t been out on a date or an outing in… ever. I didn’t go out at all before having Elijah and after that… it just didn’t feel right. Not that I had that many friends. I had Chris, but going out just with him would have felt too much like a date now. I had my coworkers at the three places I had jobs at in the past two months, but those were the type of friendships where you’d usually be close during work hours, but once you stepped out of the workplace, if you saw them you’d just nod and move along.
