Ling Yu suffers from mysophobia. Even though she didn't directly vomit on her clothes, the lingering smell of vomit, if it left any trace on the sofa, would undoubtedly prompt him to immediately ask her to leave the house.
An Lan looked around the spacious house, roughly spanning over two hundred square meters, with a three-bedroom, two-living-room layout. The interior design featured a premium black-and-white palette, and the walls were adorned with mostly abstract, enigmatic artworks that she could sense resonated deeply with his aloof yet carefree personality.
Since entering university, Ling Yu had rarely returned home.
Because he disliked the collective life of dormitories, Uncle Ling had thoughtfully purchased this property near his school for him.
Not only was it conveniently located near Yunjing University, enjoying an advantageous geographical position, but it was also a high-end residential area, making it an ideal residence for him.
After taking her medication, An Lan felt much more relaxed. Her gaze flicked over the wall clock, and suddenly, she remembered something, quickly standing up and walking towards his bedroom door.
She took several deep breaths to calm herself before formally knocking on the door.
However, there was no response from within.
Undeterred, she knocked again, several times.
Just as she was about to give up, the door swung open abruptly, and An Lan's eyes widened instantly, meeting his gaze behind the door.
Perhaps due to having just finished bathing, droplets of water still clung to Ling Yu's hair, trickling down his slender face, gliding past his neck, and disappearing into the contours of his defined abs.
The white bath towel wrapped around him appeared loose and casual, inadvertently revealing his slender waist and taut abdomen to An Lan's gaze.
Ling Yu casually raised one eyebrow, leaning against the doorframe with an air of subtle chill in his voice, tinged with an indescribable hint of teasing.
"Is the view good?"
"?"
An Lan's cheeks instantly flushed, and she hurriedly turned around, stammering, "I'm sorry, I... I didn't expect..."
"Is there something you need?"
Ling Yu glanced at her before reaching out to grab a coat from beside him and draping it over his shoulders.
As if suddenly remembering something, he swiftly zipped the coat up to its fullest extent.
"Uh... I accidentally left my phone at work. Could I borrow yours to call my mom?"
An Lan, fearing rejection, hastened to add, "I just want to tell her I'm fine and not to worry!"
A scornful chuckle echoed from behind her.
"Such a filial daughter."
"Hmm?"
An Lan turned around only to find the door slamming shut with a loud "bang."
"..."
"If you don't want to lend it, that's fine. Why are you so angry?" Anlan muttered to herself as she turned and walked towards the door.
She first tidied up the bathroom before taking a shower and changing into fresh clothes. She was about to throw her dirty clothes into the washing machine for cleaning.
But then she thought about Ling Yu's severe obsession with cleanliness and realized that he might find it unacceptable for someone else to use his washing machine. He might even scold her.
Anlan reluctantly took her clothes back and decided to go back to her room to find a replacement outfit.
However, when she opened the wardrobe, it was empty, not a single piece of women's clothing in sight.
She looked around the room but didn't find any signs of a woman living there. She went back to the bathroom for a closer inspection.
The bathroom was filled with men's toiletries, not a single item belonging to a woman.
The only female products were the disposable toothbrush and toothpaste for women that Ling Yu had bought for her.
Had he never brought a girlfriend back to live with him?
Anlan stood there for a moment, stunned, before finally deciding to throw her dirty clothes into the washing machine.
The washing machine had a wash-and-dry function, so her clothes would be ready to wear as soon as they were dried.
Besides, without a replacement outfit, she couldn't very well walk around naked.
Compared to being naked, she would rather endure his scolding.
An Lan was only wrapped in a bath towel. Unaccustomed to sleeping naked, she had to patiently wait for her clothes in the washing machine to dry before changing into them and sleeping peacefully.
By the time she was ready, the night had deepened, and the clock hands had silently crept towards two or three in the morning.
The next morning, a sudden and urgent doorbell rang like a thunderbolt, jerking An Lan out of her slumber.
She rubbed her head, which ached slightly from lack of sleep, and when she confirmed that the doorbell was still stubbornly ringing, she managed to prop herself up and stumble towards the door.
Entering the living room, An Lan found Ling Yu standing on the balcony, holding a mobile phone, talking to someone unknown.
Upon seeing An Lan, Ling Yu slightly lifted his chin, gesturing with his eyes for her to open the door.
An Lan nodded and walked towards the front door, gently turning the handle.
Outside, a gentle and sweet voice immediately rang out, tinged with a hint of dissatisfaction: "Ling Yu, why did it take you so long to open the door..."
But before she could finish her sentence, her voice trailed off.
Inside and out, two pairs of eyes met abruptly, and both An Lan and Lin Xi froze for a moment.
Lin Xi's expression became complex for an instant but quickly returned to normal, her lips curving into a smile. "An Lan is here too?"
An Lan responded obediently, "Hello, Lin Xi jie jie."
"Where's your brother?" Lin Xi asked casually.
"He's on the balcony making a phone call," An Lan pointed towards the balcony.
Upon hearing this, Lin Xi nodded lightly and then stepped forward towards the balcony.
It was evident that she was quite familiar with the surroundings, as if she had visited the place multiple times before.
Moments later, a faint murmur of conversation drifted from the balcony, muffled by the glass panes, and An Lan could only catch the vague ripples of sound.
Gently closing the door behind her, An Lan couldn't help but cast a glance in that direction.
The man had already changed into his attire, a simple ensemble of black pants and a white shirt, the corner of which was casually tucked into his taut waistline, accentuating his elongated and erect figure.
A few buttons of the shirt were undone, exuding a casual and laid-back vibe, revealing a glimpse of his pale collarbones. Between his fingers rested an unlit cigarette, its smoke lazily curling upwards, adding an air of mystery to the scene.
He wasn't actually smoking; instead, he used that hand to prop himself up against the edge of the washbasin, his half-body lazily leaning on it, exuding a sense of unfettered freedom and nonchalance that was both dashing and tinged with a touch of cynicism.
Standing opposite him, Lin Xi anxiously spoke, her delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly, clearly conveying a sense of urgency.
Yet, he appeared indifferent, his slightly raised eyebrows betraying a tranquil detachment that made it difficult to discern whether he was truly listening.
Lin Xi was his girlfriend, a fact that An Lan had only come to know on the day of university freshman registration.
