Prison Break

“Raptor, was that the sound of laser?” Dillon asked from inside the building. “Yes, it was. It means we’re in some serious s**t. Watch your step and don’t fall behind.” Thomas replied on Raptor’s behalf. “Exits are now locked. But strangely, there are no cameras inside the building. So I can’t help you guys.” Wanker radioed from the security room. “This place never ceases to surprise me. No wonder it’s made by a psychopath.” Thomas said as he peeked a wall. “Okay, so now what?” Dillon asked. “Now we place C-4 charges on each floor and free the prisoners. Immediate plan is to pass this hallway. Something is always wrong with an empty hallway.” Thomas said, aiming his gun at any blind spots. Then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, a thought struck his mind. “What if I die here? What would happen to Amanda?” a current of electricity ran down his spine as this thought poured itself in his mind. “What’s wrong?” Dillon asked, looking at Thomas’ pale face. “Nothing. Just a random thought. Let’s carry on, we don’t have much time.” Thomas said, shaking the feeling. But the thought had planted itself and he couldn’t get around it. “I can take the lead, boss.” Dillon said, concerned. “Uhh….ok.” Thomas said reluctantly, looking at his partner. Dillon instantly took a hold of his SMG and started walking across the silent, almost haunted hallway. Thomas followed him, trying to concentrate as hard as he could. Halfway across the hall, they heard a shoe screech on the ground. Dillon didn’t waste another moment. He sprayed the dark corner behind a pillar and a body fell down. “Get behind cover!” Dillon screamed as he heard multiple guns c*****g across the hall. As they jumped behind a neighboring pillar, muzzle flashes lit up the room and Thomas barely escaped a shot. He looked back and saw the wounded man get up and walk away. “They’re behind pillars. The man you shot just walked away. They have army grade jackets.” Thomas said, getting back in form. “Why don’t they just kill us? They’ve had every opportunity to do so.” Dillon asked, spawning a sawed-off shotgun. “They want us alive. Probably to interrogate and find out how many of us are out there.” Thomas said, spawning a grenade launcher. “Lay down cover fire, I’ll teach them a good lesson.” Dillon said and c****d his shotgun. Thomas took a deep breath and stepped out. Trying to aim as best as he could, he fired in the pitch black corner across the room. The projectile landed and a loud bang was heard. Debris, blood and screams filled the air as Dillon ran from corner to corner, shooting at everything that moved. By the end of the minute, nine men were missing their heads and the rest were crawling helplessly. “Take care of them. I’m spawning a jacket and impenetrable helmets. Enough of this s**t, let’s show them what we’re made of.” Dillon said, dropping his shotgun and looking at his watch. As they entered the first floor, shots flew around from all directions, some of them hitting the armor without having any effect on it. Thomas and Dillon were like two stones in a river of fire. They walked forward, blowing up anyone that got in their way using their shotguns. “Grenade!” Thomas screamed as he saw a man removing the pin from a hand grenade. Dillon’s shot landed on the man’s hand, separating it from his body. The man tried to run away but the grenade spread his flesh all over the walls. An army of prisoners were on their back as they entered the second floor, carrying the guns of fallen guards. The remaining guards didn’t stand a chance. One by one, all of them were transported to god. Many of them pleaded for mercy, but there was no mercy, only death. “All clear. Setting up charges now.” Thomas radioed. “What about the basement?” Dillon asked. “It’s guarded by lasers. There is no getting in.” Wanker radioed. “Guess we can’t save everyone.” Thomas said, checking his shotgun. “Still the phobia?” Dillon asked and smiled. “Yeah, there’s no way around this shit.” Thomas said and smiled back. “They put up a pretty good fight for a gang.” Dillon said on his way out of the prison building. “Not good enough.” Thomas said. “Right. Hey listen; I’ve been where you are. And I’ll only say this- we are not capable of love. So don’t try to grab something you can’t have.” Dillon said. “What are you talking about?” Thomas said uneasily. Dillon didn’t answer. He just looked into Thomas’ eyes until Thomas gave in. “I know, bro. But it’s something you don’t control, it just happens.” Thomas said. “Yes, it happens. But it happens to normal people. We have had training to control emotions. If you still can’t help it, you can always ask for emotional inhibitors.” Dillon said, putting his hand on Thomas’ shoulder. “I’ll consider it. This talk dosen't leave the room.” Thomas said. Dillon nodded in affirmation. “Listen up, if anyone asks who saved you, I was the only one. These people don’t exist, you understand?” Thomas said, looking at the prisoners. The prisoners looked at each other in confusion. “If you tell anyone, I will personally hunt you down and every member of the rebellion. So it’s up to you.” Thomas said and didn’t wait for an answer. “It was nice seeing you guys again.” Thomas said to his teammates. He had instructed the prisoners to walk on the pre-planned road until they found the hired bus. He was standing with his teammates on the very spot he had summoned them for the mission. “Always a pleasure working with you.” Warner said. “Remember what I said.” Dillon said, frowning at Thomas. “What happened?” Wanker asked. “Oh nothing. He’s in love, that’s all.” Dillon said and laughed. “Are you f*****g kidding me? I JUST told you it was a secret. Damn it Dillon, how did you even become a spy?” Thomas said and pounced on him. But a bright flash blinded him and before he could regain his sight, his team was gone. Thomas stood there was a second. A smile appeared on his lips as he walked away. “I don’t believe it. You did it, how did you do it?” Veda asked as he saw Thomas walk towards him. “Take your men and escort the prisoners. Meet me tomorrow morning in front of Madhav’s weed shop. I have to figure something out.” Thomas said and pushed the detonator in his hand. A dull explosion was heard at a distance and a gust of wind blew on their faces. “Was that the building?” Veda asked. “Stop asking questions and do your f*****g job. What are you, five years old?” Thomas said, irritated. That night, Thomas took a long walk on the highway. This prison break had forced him to look at some things very seriously. At dawn, he was a changed man. He stopped a car, shot the driver in the head and drove back into the city. He was at peace, at least for now.
