CHAPTER TWO: THE WEDDING

ALICIA POV

PRESENT

I stare at the woman in the mirror, the full length white gown, the lace details that formed the start of my off-shoulder gown towards my bust, showing off a little bit of cleavage, and attached to the lower bust end and the pearls, the beautiful pearls that shine and glimmer around the gown, making me look like a princess.

I couldn't wait to walk down the aisle and say my vows to my mate and not just my mate but the Alpha of the southern pack, Hayden.

The door opens and Karen pokes her head inside, then proceeds to shout “Here she is”. Karen walked in, and I ran immediately to hug her“ you came”. I said, holding her tightly, I missed this, I have missed her.

“You didn't really think I would miss your wedding now, did you? I would never in a million years do that. You are my best friend”. Someone cleared their throats behind us, which drifted my attention to my mother standing by the door.I released my hold of Karen and saw my mum staring at me in awe.

“ You look so beautiful honey, I almost didn't recognize you, you look stunning”. My mum said as she tucked back a strand of my brunette hair that fell on my face. I was so close to tears but didn't want to ruin my makeup, so I held back the tears. Today was a happy day for me. All my loved ones: my mum ,Karen and Hayden were here. I was getting married to the love of my life………………..except Brian, he did not show up, it didn't matter anyway. Today was a special day for me.

Karen stood up to pick up a phone call and left the dressing room. My mum looked at me and immediately sensed something was bothering me.

“What is wrong baby, do you have cold feet?” She asked, taking a seat on the nearest chair to me.

“Mum, I am scared, not in a I want to run away kind of scared, but for the future, can I really be a dutiful Luna to Hayden? he is the alpha of the southern pack, mum, that means responsibility.I am scared I would not live up to his expectations and that of the pack”. She took my hands into hers, holding me in assurance.

“Honey,I am sure Hayden doesn't suddenly expect you to just become a leader, these things take time, and he loves you enough to know that you are going to make a wonderful Luna and lead the people with kindness and dignity”.

“Thanks mum,I really wished you had been here earlier”.

“I am here now, so you have nothing to worry about honey. I should get your makeup artist to do some finishing touches, before you walk down the aisle”. She left the room to find the makeup artist and Karen came inside and slumped down on the sofa.

I kept stealing glances at her from the mirror, she looked so different from how I remembered her to be, her once dark hair was dyed blond, and she looked curvier, her bridesmaid gown clung to her skin showcasing her curves, she looked so different from the boisterous Karen I once knew. The years had really been good for her.

Karen caught me staring at her and decided to speak up.

“Just ask about him ,I know you are dying to know if he is coming or not”.

“No,I am not !” I replied defensively. Brian and I hadn't seen each other in so long in all honesty, it had been so long since I also saw Karen, so I had no idea if she and Brian were still in touch with one another, but she was right.I wanted to know how he was doing.

We both stared at each other in silence, trying to intimidate each other with our eyes till someone gave up. It has always been our thing since when we were little.I caved after some seconds. “Okay ,fine, maybe I am curious about him,but it has been so long since we last saw each other,I mean it is Brian we are talking about here, Brian who cannot hold a grudge went into ghost mode on me for no reason, do you guys still keep in touch?”.

“We talk once in a while, so I know this for sure, he wouldn't miss your wedding,he cares too much about you to do that.” I was about to tell Karen how wrong she was about Brian's caring so much for me when the door swung open revealing my mum and my make-up artist who hastily began retouching my face ,my mum kept urging her to be quick,since it would soon be time to take our vows.

Soon it was time to walk down the aisle.I left the dressing room,my heart beating rapidly as each bridemaid positioned themselves in line.I walked slowly down the beautifully decorated garden towards Hayden, who was already at the front patiently waiting for me. One glance at him was enough to ease my nerves and fears. To others he might be the scary, intimidating alpha, but to me, he was the sweetest, kindest person who doted on me.

I got to the front and saw my husband to be looking so good in his two-piece suit. He was smiling so broadly, Hayden,whom people always call “ THE SILENT ALPHA” because it was always hard to tell his next move from his face,he had an impassive face that gave nothing out. One of his strongest advantages as an alpha, but made him scary to figure out as a person, was smiling broadly at me.It felt surreal. He mouthed the words “you look beautiful” to me and that assurance that everything would work out came rushing to me.

The ordinator began to talk on love and soon it was time to say our vows,we read our vows to one another and the ordinator asked if we both took each other as husband and wife,Alpha and Luna forever. We mouthed the words yes, gave each other our rings and sealed the deal with a kiss.

The whole crowd cheered in unison and congratulated us wishing us a happy married life. We left the garden and went to the reception hall to host the guest.Hayden being an Alpha, had a lot of other Alphas arrived from different packs around the world,most of them I have heard him spoken about once or twice but never met them, he went around welcoming them telling me he would be right back.

The day dragged on with me mostly going around to make sure everyone felt comfortable and things were going in order. Soon it was evening,my feet were killing me from wearing these heels and my whole body was aching, but I knew it was going to be a long day.

I left the hall to get some air, staring at the full moon in all its glory hoping it was a sign from the moon goddess telling me that my marriage would be bright and full of life.I took a deep breath to calm myself and remove any negative thoughts that my mind kept drifting to,I was officially married to Hayden and cannot wait to start a family with him.

I turned to get back inside the reception hall when a familiar voice stopped my track “ Hello flair”.
