Chapter 7 - The City Girl and the Paddy Fields 3

“Good morning, everyone. This is crazy. My dream feels so real. You all look exactly the same. I might be having the best luck of my life right now. I can’t believe that something like this is possible.”
As if struck with awe, all of Jamie’s siblings are looking at him with disbelief. Their eldest brother is the strict and serious type and so this sudden change in his character made them all look uncertain.
He usually went out early in the morning to work in the field, but since he left his tools in the shed, Jamie’s siblings thought he was visiting their other plants first. It was a very normal routine if not for the fact that he is acting like crazy right now.
Seeing their brothers smile like that made them cringe with all their might. A serene smile does not fit his body build and rigid facial expression.
“Brother, are you drunk? Isn’t it too early for that?”
“What are you saying? Why is my cute Vivi asking such a stupid question?”
Vivi, Jamie’s eldest sister, ten years younger than him, looks with disdain at her older brother. She respects him as the breadwinner of their family, but she could definitely feel that there was something different to the stoic brother that they grew up with.
She cannot understand him and so she can’t ask the proper question that will bring out the answer that she is seeking. Their brother only has one flaw and that is being bird-brained up to his last remaining brain cells.
“Fine. Whatever. Just please take your breakfast first. We are already done preparing the food.”
“Weh? It must be nice that I will still be eating your cook in my dream. Haha, I can’t believe that such a thing could be this realistic.”
It was the last straw. Vivi and the rest of Jamie’s siblings might have been hit with the answer that they need, but they can’t believe that their brother turned out to be the epitome of stupidity. All kinds of foolishness have their own limits, but it looks like their eldest sibling has long forgotten his.
They pitied him thinking that he had finally reached the end of his rope. Jamie had been a hard worker since their father left them for another woman and it might have greatly affected his thinking process.
He was still a minor back then, but he did all the chores while earning all the money he could just to raise them one by one. They can only be grateful to the big man who is looking like a fool right now.
“Brother. If you don’t mind, why are you thinking that you are dreaming right now?”
Simon, the second eldest in the family, asked Jamie the most oblivious question that one could throw. He knew his brother’s character more than anyone else and such a change in him had never occurred before, even once.
Simon might not be the smartest in their family, but he is at least using his brain more than Jamie. His brother mentioned the word “dream” more than once, so it only means that he believes that he is dreaming right now.
It was an unbelievable and stupid deduction, but he couldn’t think of anything else after all the brainstorming that he did.
“But this is just a dream, right? Something amazing happened and it will never happen in real life, so the explanation is that I’m inside a dream.”
All the people inside that house, at the perfect time, slapped their foreheads after hearing the unthinkable. They can’t believe that their brother is walking outside their house thinking that what was happening to him was all but just a dream.
It was a pathetic and as brainless as ever deduction.
It would be a totally absurd reason if used by others, but their simpleton brother perfectly fits the criteria of validly using it.
“Brother. You are not dreaming right now. This is reality. How about you slap yourself too, so you will feel the pain of that so-called dream of yours.”
It was a brutal remark, but the seriousness in Simon’s voice removed the smile on Jamie’s face.
Jamie might not be the smartest man on Earth, but it doesn’t mean that the chance of what he is doing is real never crossed his mind. He is just using the excuse of being in a dream to fully satisfy the hunger that he is feeling towards Anastacia.
A loud bang followed after a few seconds of silence between the siblings.
At that moment, everyone knew that their brother had finally realized the foolishness that he had been doing all morning. It was a funny sight that they wanted to laugh at, but they held their voices since it might ruin the mood of the big man before them.
To compensate for Jamie’s lack of brain, his siblings are all fast cookies regarding the learning process. It even became a family joke that their eldest was adopted due to his difference.
“You all eat first. I just need to go to Gramp’s house.”
Jamie runs like his life depends on it right after the pain of his slap kicks in. The reality of the pleasure that he felt a while ago finally dawned on him. Jamie, himself, can’t believe how stupid he could be for charging that sweet morning to his fantasy.
“What could have happened?”
“What if he finally bagged Grandpa Max last night?”
All of Jamie's siblings run after him thinking that their brother has finally gone insane and killed the old couple who is always helping them. It would even be big trouble if he gave him a single punch.
Their brother’s body and fist were not a joke. Those were honed after years and years of hard work and so they are sure that things won’t end well should he decide to use his fist in a fight.
The siblings now look like a bunch of chickens, running with all their might right after their father.

“Anastacia!”
Jamie entered the couple’s house without knocking. He ran all over the place as if he owned it, just to find the woman whom he shared a moment with. Thankfully, the man was able to deduce that doing it with a woman without any protection only means that a human being will be given life.
“…Anastacia!”
Like a beast looking for his mate, the frantic actions of Jamie finally bore fruit when he saw the woman that he is looking for. Anastacia is lying on her stomach, fully naked, while being massaged by Grandma Cara.
The two women were in awe when they saw the messy and sweaty figure of Jamie approaching them.
If it was a normal scenario, then there is no doubt that the old woman was already shouting at the brute. However, her delayed reaction is fully understandable, since the presence of the man before them is truly overwhelming.
“Anastacia. Are you all right? I am really sorry for being so hard on you. My brain was not working well when I saw you at the lake. I thought that everything was just a dream. Do not worry. I will take responsibility. Please marry me.”
A proposal came out of Jamie’s mouth out of nowhere. Anastacia was so shocked that she forgot to cover her breast, and Grandma Cara almost held her breath as she lifted her hands from Anastacia’s hips.
It was not an everyday occurrence that you would see a man proposing to a woman whom he just met yesterday.
Anastacia is more amazed and bewildered than mad that something like that is happening to her right now. After all, no one in their right mind would confess that he only did it with a woman while thinking that they were in a dream.
Jamie sure did surpass the capability of all being to adjust within a set period of time.
“You stupid, mute! Don’t you know the meaning of the word charming? I can’t even see you being a married man. Get out first and let Anastacia wear something.”
Grandma Cara was the first one to regain her composure after the almost-storm-like entrance of Jamie. Naturally, even the old woman can’t help but blush at the false valor that the brute before them is showing.
If Jamie is a soldier, then there is no doubt that he will be the first one to die in an all-out war. He is just so straightforward and honest for his own good.
“Y-yeah. I am sorry. I’ll be waiting for you downstairs.”
“See you later, Jamie.”
Like innocent teens, the two look at each other as if they have already reached the agreement that they both want. It was a warm look that made Grandma Cara cringe even more.
It would have been perfect if not for the fact that one of them was thinking otherwise.
Anastacia immediately stands up after Jamie closes the door and chooses the best dress that is still in her suitcase. Her answer to the proposal was already finalized in her mind, and the only thing that she could do was frown helplessly.
What awaits the two downstairs will surely change their lives until the very end.
