“Let her go this minute!” Nana Grace commanded Drew, and he let go immediately because of how he greatly feared his grandmother.
Nana Grace then came forward and held Nina's hand, touching the area Drew bruised. Everyone was in trembles and looked down the whole time so as not to come in eye contact with her. She was old but still commanded respect from everyone.
After Alpha Vance, Nana Grace was another person that was mostly feared by their pack and every other pack. She was on her way to Jackson's family mansion when she heard her grandson's voice. Though her two grandsons almost had the same tone, she could still differentiate between the two, her ears were also too sharp to hear them clearly. She decided to go see what her grandson was doing and was disappointed at the result.
“I cannot believe that after everything you put this poor girl through, you would still humiliate her because your brother asked her to marry him.” Of course, she knew about the proposal as she had ears everywhere. She was so happy when she found out that Vance asked her to be his Luna and was ready to welcome her into the Jackson's family.
Drew was about to say something but was cut off by his grandma, who threatened him.
“One word from your mouth, and you'll see yourself in the forbidden land.” Though it was “forbidden”, it was still an indigenous to them and is a place of punishment for offenders. It was only forbidden for non-indigenes that were not part of the Night Shadow Pack, so people like Nina were not permitted to go there.
“Go back to the mansion and wait for me there!” Drew trembles at her words and runs immediately with Chase by his side.
“And to the rest of you here, I don't want to hear any kind of gossip unless you want to see my wrath. Did I make myself clear?” She said, pointing at everyone there while they listened to her attentively and in great fear.
“Yes, our lady.” Everyone said in unison and ran off to their respective homes, leaving Nina alone with her.
She turned to her and the once cold and fierce looking old lady everyone feared a while ago had a face filled with warmth and kindness. Nina was still scared and trembled when she came closer to her.
She spoke softly to her, “No fear my child, I'm so sorry you had to go through this torment from my grandson, Drew. He sometimes acts like a child and, since my late daughter-in-law spoiled him dearly, it's now my responsibility to deal with him accordingly so he grows up. I hope you can forgive us for raising such boy child.”
“Y – yes, t – thank you.” She stammers.
“Come here child, come.” Nana Grace opened up her arms to give her a warm hug as she was still scared of her presence. Nina was reluctant at first but went and gave her a hug and tears began to fill up in her eyes. All efforts to snuck it up were furtive as Nana kept tapping her in assurance. She finally gave in and cried on her shoulders.
After a while, Nana spoke to her, giving her a wide smile. “I heard the news. I hope you're not going to
Nina nodded in agreement as a figment of tears was still evident in her eyes. “Don't worry, my grandson, Vance will take very good care of you. He is not like his twin brother Drew.” She pats her hand, giving her assurance. “And trust me, I'll make sure no one disrespects you again, not even Drew.” Nina let out a light laugh as she found her to be funny.
“Now go inside, we have a wedding to plan.” She said and walked Nina back to her quarters before leaving the place.
***
The night before the wedding, Drew visited Nina at her apartment to change her mind once again, as he wasn't ready to lose her to his brother. He broke off their mate bond but still wanted her close to him because he still kept her in his pack. But after days, weeks and a few months of trying to talk his brother out of marrying Nina, he had made up his mind about making her his Luna.
Nina was just about to leave her room when she sighted Drew and was about to run back into her room when Drew pleaded with her.
“Wait, wait, wait, Nina. Please just hear me out. I promise I'm not here to hurt you or to cause any harm whatsoever. Just hear me out this once.” Nina saw the sincerity in his eyes and decided to give him her attention.
She folded her hands together and was waiting for Drew to speak when he heard his brother's voice.
“Drew, what are you doing here?”
“Br – Brother, you're here.’ Drew trembled at his brother's presence and sweats were dropping down from his face. Nina was also shocked to see Vance at her place and became uncomfortable in the two brothers' presence.
“Alpha, what brings you here?” She said, bowing to him.
Vance didn't like the way she was still giving him the Master/Slave vibe and found the question to be offensive, seeing how she accepted to listen to his twin brother but wasn't comfortable being around him. He had to let it go knowing that their marriage was quick without properly knowing each other.
“Well, I came to check up on you knowing that you'll be my bride tomorrow and the kidnapping starts right the night before the wedding.”
Nina was amused at Vance's light jokes and was grateful that he took out time to check on her.
“Thank you, Alpha Vance, but no one's kidnapping me, and I'm doing OK thanks to you. So you need to go back to your quarters.”
He smirked at her then turned to his brother. “And what are you doing here, Drew?”
“And what do you think I'm doing, Vance? Taking my mate back, of course,” he said angrily.
This singular act played by the brothers was something Nina had never expected.
