Chapter 2

1108 Words
Nina thought her life would abruptly come to an end when a hand reached her. She couldn't see the face as everywhere was so dark and the rain was becoming intense, but she was hoping the stranger would save her from the pit. After much trial, she was brought out of the pit that seemed to be deep. “What do you think you're doing?” A deep husky voice screamed at Nina, but she was too weak to reply to him. Her eyes were dim while everywhere was so dark, but she could recognize the face that saved her, so she reached her hands to his face, and before she closed her eyes, she called out his name, “Drew.” *** The next morning, Nina wakes up and finds herself in a more comfortable and larger bed. She got up immediately and recalled the harsh event that happened the other night. She remembered them and was wide in shock when she remembered the person that saved her from the pit. “Did he have a change of heart,” she said, holding her chest as it began to pound so fast. She smiled as she remembered that Drew saved her from death. But then, she notices the difference in the tone and begins to compare them. While this voice was more masculine and sounded more authoritative, Drew's voice was less masculine. She looks up and scans the room she was in. Although she hadn't been to Drew's room, she felt a thing of authority hovering around the room like it was where a stronger person would be living. She got out of bed and began to tiptoe out of the room when the bathroom door was flung open, revealing a man on towels while he rumbled through his hair with his towel. Nina was struck at how beautiful his body was and was about to call out Drew when their eyes suddenly met. Nina at first was happy to see the same face but was confused at how different he looked, as she wondered if he had changed overnight. As if he knew what was on her mind, he spoke up. “If you think I'm Drew, you're wrong. Hi Nina, I've finally met the popular girl everyone has been gossiping about.” Nina was shocked, not because of how he knew her name, but that he wasn't the Drew she thought he was. “Then, who are you and why do you look so much like Drew?” “I guess you haven't been properly introduced. My name is Vance Jackson, and I am Drew's twin brother.” He said with a handshake. She widened her eyes in shock at the sudden revelation. She had heard alot about Vance Jackson being the strongest alpha and leader in Night Shadow but didn't know that he was Drew's twin brother. Everyone feared him and seeing him now, she now understood, while people feared him so much. He possessed such an aura and even Nina became scared. But no one knew that he was Drew's twin. Some even said that he was Drew's elder brother as he was more away on duty. He's hardly seen except on important assignments. Nina was dumbfounded and kept her head down as she became shy because he was still on his towels. He noticed her sudden shyness and knew the reason why, but decided to tease her. “Do you like what you see?” Nina became more shy and her face became red when she heard him say those words. She thanked him and was about to leave when Vance grabbed her hand. “Do you mind explaining what you were doing in the forbidden land?” Vance said with compassion in his eyes. Nina became scared again when hearing the word again. If Vance hadn't come in to save her, she would've been dead by now or even eaten up by vultures. She was grateful that at least someone had come to save her in that thick of the night. She looks up and finds Vance still waiting for her answers curiously. “I was lost in thoughts and didn't know how I found myself there. I'm sorry for causing you trouble and thank you for saving me.” “Did anything happen between you and my brother that made you go into deep thoughts? I've been hearing gossip lately about you two.” Nina was surprised and shocked to hear that their alpha would have the time to listen to mere gossip from people. “I'm sorry alpha, but I'm not in the right mind to say anything about my relationship.” She bows down to him, showing her respect. Vance understood that she might still be hurt by his brother's rejection and, knowing the fact that they had just met, so he stopped. “I'm sorry for everything. Why don't you take a shower and eat breakfast before you leave? You look like you got out of the mud right now. And, you need to wait for your dress to dry up since you're wearing my shirt.” He points at his shirt on Nina. Nina didn't realize she was wearing Vance's shirt and her face was deep in red in embarrassment. She also looks down on her feet and notices how dirty her feet were. She wondered why an Alpha would allow such a dirty girl like her to sleep in his bed. She became more ashamed. Without further delay, Nina bows and leaves immediately with his shirt still on her. Vance was stunned by her act because no woman would want to leave after meeting the strongest and finest bachelor in Night Shadow, but here, Nina didn't wait a second to leave, and he smirked at how she left with his shirt still on her. Nina hurriedly out of the Jackson's mansion but stopped halfway when she noticed familiar faces. She quickly recognized it was Drew and Chase as they were having their best time in his mansion. A fang of jealousy springs up as she sees the two laughing so hard and enjoying their time around each other. Drew had never brought her to see his mansion. She didn't even know his family was this rich with exquisite decorations and a spacious compound. She was tempted to go and meet them but stopped halfway, clenching her fists tightly against her dirty dress. She tried to suppress the tears that were already welling up on her face. She was about to leave when she heard her name from one of the maids. “Nina Jones.”
