Chapter 3

1153 Words
When Nina heard her name, she was so scared that maybe people had seen her come out of Vance's room. She planned to leave without Drew and Chase knowing that she had caught them, but everyone hated her, even those working inside the Jackson family mansion. When Drew and Chase saw her, Chase hid behind Drew, ashamed of what she had done. Although Chase loves Drew, she still values the friendship she had with Nina and wishes both of them to put aside their differences. Drew walks up to her with Chase behind him, looking at her with disdain. “What are you doing here and how did you find my house?” Also, whose shirt are you putting on right now? Because I know you cannot afford this type. Nina was heartbroken hearing Drew say those words to her. She never visited Drew while dating him, as he was always the one coming to see her. She tried multiple times to visit him as she wanted to reciprocate, but he always shuns her not to, and now he is angry that she finally came to his house without him disagreeing. She mustered the courage to reply to him when his twin brother spoke up. “I brought her.” His eyes widened when he heard his brother say that. “Br – brother, why did you do that? Remember we cannot bring an outsider into our home. She's not a member of our pack.” “And yet, you dated and broke off your mate bond with the same outsider.” Nina could not believe that the same man she loved would be the same man that would talk down on her that way. She suppressed her tears again so as not to embarrass herself before the alpha. “That was a mistake. I found my new mate, the one that was destined for me. He said, holding Chase's hands tightly while she was still in hiding. Vance did not like the way his brother looked down on Nina as he looked at her and saw that she began to tremble. He goes towards her and holds her firmly so she doesn't fall. He gets disappointed at his brother's actions and gives him a disappointing look. “And this woman you've found, is she part of our pack?” The question threw Drew off as he began to stammer, not knowing what to say. “Uhm – N – No she's not, but she's different. That I can assure you.” he stammers. They were twins a few minutes apart, but Drew trembled whenever he was in his presence. He knew what his brother was always capable of, as he never showed mercy to people, even for the slightest thing. He wondered how Nina was able to meet him and even sleep at his house. “And this your new mate, your destiny in quote, why is she still hiding behind you?” He said, mocking his words. ‘Come out now!” he commanded with irritation evident in his tone that put Chase into trembles. Slowly, she shows herself with her head down and hands shaking. “I want to see your face, woman.” His husky voice further commanded. Chase raised her head immediately and was in eye contact with Nina. She finds her in the arms of the most feared wolf. No one would dare to come close to him. She began to wonder how they managed to meet. “You're Chase, right?” Vance's question cut through her thoughts as she replied to him immediately. “Y – Yes my lord, I am.” She said as she bowed to him. “And you're Nina's best friend?” The question shocked Drew and Chase. Nina was also shocked as she never said anything to him. “Y – Yes, I am.” She replied immediately in trembles with her head bowed so as not to be on the alpha's bad side. “And, will you say you've been a good friend to Nina even after snatching her mate from her?” Drew was no longer comfortable with his twin throwing questions at his new mate as he was already becoming tense. “Brother, whatever this woman has said to you is a big lie.” “You! Whatever you told my brother, better spill it out now.” He pointed at her angrily with irritation written all over his face. “And again, why is she wearing your clothes? Don't tell me she seduced you?” Drew tried to change the question. Vance was getting angry at his brother's words about Nina but decided to calm down. He walks up to him and places his hands on his shoulders, giving him those death stares. “She said nothing to me, rather it was so obvious that you'd been cheating on her with her best friend. You, my brother, made it obvious even to a busy person like me. She was just too blind not to see it. And again, it's none of your business to see her wear my clothes.” He defended her. Drew knew he wouldn't win against his brother and began to play the pity card. “Brother, Y – You don't know her. And I love Chase so much. Nina is not the woman for me. Please.” Drew pleaded, as if his life was in line with Chase's destiny. Chase, on the other wanted the same thing even though she knew her former best friend was still hurt from their betrayal. With tears already falling down her cheeks, Nina spoke out. “I'm sorry, Drew. I'm sorry for not being that woman you always hoped for. I'm sorry if I pushed myself into you too soon, but I'll never forgive you and Chase for putting me into this pain. It would've been better if I hadn't found out until I was dead than to find out this way.” Drew wasn't moved by her words as he continued to plead for his brother's blessing. “Please Vance, I'm your twin brother. I know I've not been a good brother, but with your blessings, I promise to be good from henceforth.” He said while still holding Chase's hands. Nina couldn't continue watching what was happening. It dawned on her that she was just an avenue for them being together and that hurt her so much. She was just about to leave when Vance held her hands. “Nina, wait.” She halted on her feet, because she didn't want to disobey her alpha. His hands went over to her face towards him, and he kissed her aggressively with everyone in shock, including Drew and Chase. Nina's eyes were also wide in shock as she never saw it coming. The next word that came out threw everyone off. “Will you marry me?”
