Exhaling softly, I folded my hands in my lap, staring out the airplane window as the plane slowly made its descent down the runway. The familiar sight of the city coming into view made my chest tighten. It had been a long time since I had been back, and somehow, it still felt too soon.
The flight attendants thanked us for flying with them as the wheels rolled to a stop, and the passengers hurriedly got off the plane.
I waited until the last of them had left, mostly because I wasn’t in a hurry to do this.
