SLOANE I stood at my apartment door, shivering and fumbling with my keys. But when I tried to slide the key into the lock, it wouldn't fit. I frowned and tried again, jiggling the handle. Nothing. The lock was completely different from the one I remembered. "What the hell?" I muttered, staring at the silver deadbolt that definitely wasn't there before. "This wasn't my lock." Could it be that Declan or Rika had changed it after the whole situation with Garrett breaking in? That had to be it. But why wouldn't they tell me? Why wouldn't they give me the new key?
