"I don't care who you love, Alpha." Ronan's voice cracked on the last word, and it hit me like a punch to the gut. "I'll always be here. I'll always love you and make you feel better. Don't just shut me out."
The pain in his voice was raw and real and so f*****g vulnerable, it made something in my chest twist. I turned to face him, really face him, and saw the way his jaw was clenched tight, the way his hands were fisted at his sides like he was trying to hold himself together.
"I'm never shutting you out, Ronan." I reached up and cupped his face, my thumbs brushing against his cheekbones. "Stop saying that s**t. You know what you mean to me."
His hands came up to cover mine, and then he was tracing my lips with his fingers, his touch gentle despite the tension radiating off him.
