SLOANE I couldn't stop shaking. My whole body was trembling like I'd been dunked in ice water, and no matter how hard I tried to steady my hands, they just kept shaking. Cade was crying in my arms, these horrible, broken sobs that made my heart feel like it was being ripped out of my chest. "Baby, it's okay," I whispered, carrying him toward his room.
