It’s easy to arrange a tableau of occult curios appropriate for a Six Flags haunted house. It’s way harder to set the stage for an actual ghost, especially when you have zero experience in enticing paranormal entities to drop by and say boo.
Our final result, though, ended up looking pretty legit. We set up the Ouija board first, then placed the tea light candles and the crystals in an alternating semicircle around the board. Ryan had a lighter on him, so he did the honors of lighting the candles and the sage. The latter he handed to me, and I gamely swished it through the air like I was jousting some invisible foe, then set it down in a dish to smolder. The smoke was strong and not overly pleasant.
