Chapter Four

Orion Dawnbreaker I glanced up at him, and I watched his face grow rigid the moment I refuted that my mate wasn't going to be waiting tables. “You can't claim her. She is mated to me and under my jurisdiction.” He snapped. As always, step brother. As always, he wanted to be a pain in my ass. “Was. He rejected me.” She muttered to me, holding on tight like she was scared I was some kind of imagination that would wither away. “I believe you rejected her, dead brother. So you really can't claim you're mated, and in terms of fate and jurisdiction, she would have to decide if she wants to stay back here with you or leave with me.” I said, and Aldric stood up from his seat, walking in my direction. Now you might be wondering how we got into this situation. If we were always at each other's throats, why then did I attend this? It was simple: to piss him the f**k off. Every year, I got this invitation to attend the Alpha's feast, but I had never for once felt comfortable in the presence of men who looked down on women, and these ones? They were on another level; they were disgusting, to put it politely. But when I saw the venue for the feast was here at Aldric's pack, I decided that I was going to come. He wasn't going to be happy to see me, but that was something he had to deal with anyway. “Why are you here? These kinds of meetings aren't always your forte, brother.” He stressed the word like it was vinegar on his tongue, and I smiled, planting myself in front of my newly found mate, which I just realised I don't even know her name yet. She's really beautiful though and slightly defiant. From the time she folded her fist like she was going to throw a punch, I knew there was some kind of pent-up storm inside of her that needed to be unleashed. “I had a change of heart just this year, and see, the goddess being so kind brings my mate my way.” I answered, and he shot her a hard glower. “If you don't want to spend a little more time in the dungeon, Kiera. Stand the f**k up and keep attending.” He warned. He rejected her, huh? But from what I'm seeing, there seems to be a thin line of jealousy here, which was absurd. Kiera. Lovely. “She doesn't have to worry about your dungeon anymore, brother. I keep reminding you that she's mated to me now.” I stressed, and in an instant, I felt a punch on my lips. “She's not going anywhere with you, and don't think that because you rebelled and left and started a pack, it makes you high in any anyway. I could make you vanish without a trace.” Kiera gasped as Aldric punched me, but I held her down. “You're a little stupid, Aldric. Just a little. But like you said, I shouldn't have come, so I'll leave. Orion sends love.” I stated and pulled her hand as she stood to her feet. “Let's go.” “I said she's going nowhere with you. Orion, you wouldn't want me to spill the blood of my brother as part of celebration for this feast, now would you?” He grabbed her hand, pulling her, and that snapped the thread line of patience that I was holding on to. I pulled her back to me and held her cheeks. “Would you reject me if you saw me drenched in blood?” I questioned, and she shook her head in negativity, and I smiled. “Good girl. Now I need you to close your eyes for me, doll; this isn't worth watching anyways.” She shut her eyes immediately, and I walked towards Aldric. “You wanted to make this party have a red theme? Let's do it.” I smiled, and Aldric took a deep breath. “You're not worth wasting my time on; my guards would do it. Lock him up.” He ordered, and as they made to walk towards me, I chuckled. “Send the love.” I muttered under my breath, and arrows began flying into the arena, taking down the guards one by one. It was really satisfying watching them fall to their feet, and that was when I knew that I had done a great job at training my gammas. “What…” Aldric's eyes were red with horror while the other Alphas stood to their feet now, all talking at the same time, trying to pacify the situation. “Every single time, Aldric, you tend to forget that you're my junior. You couldn't outsmart me even if you wanted to.” I chuckled, but the next instant, Aldric ran towards me and stabbed me with a dagger, and I fell to my feet. “Ah.” I grunted, falling to my feet as blood gushed out of the part he had stabbed. Keira's eyes instantly flung open, and she fell to her feet, cupping my face in her hands as her eyes were brimming with tears. “Orion? Orion? Are you okay?” She called out, her voice filled with worry. Just then, my warriors came rushing into the hall and surrounded us quickly, forming a circle with just I and Kierain in the centre. “You don't listen very well, doll. I told you to close your eyes.” I said, ruffling her hair before I shut my eyes.
