- CHAPTER 13-
Third Person's P.O.V.
That night, after returning from the oh so not eventful ball, Hera was sitting in her garden admiring the roses, at least that is what it seemed to be. But, in reality she was in an inner turmoil. She blamed herself for putting Typhon in danger, she blamed herself for how the night had ended, she believed that this was her own battle and she had to fight it on her own, she cannot put her loved ones in danger and tonight she did just that. She believed that she was the reason behind Typhon sporting a burst lip.
On the other hand, Typhon was upset watching his woman moping around in her garden, he knew that she believed that it was her fault for his condition but little did she know that he was willing to fight thousands of men for her, he was willing to go to extents to watch her smile, he was willing to love her till the day he dies. He was heartbroken to see her sitting silently in the garden , she didn't even talk to anyone.
Ares pleaded Hera to forgive him for what happened tonight and then went off to bed once they got home after kissing his mother on the cheek and giving Typhon a hug and wished them new year beforehand. It was ten minutes to Midnight and Typhon will never allow Hera to begin the new year on a sour note.
So, he decided to do something he has been waiting to do from the very first day he bumped into Hera at the book store. He shimmied through the pocket of his suit which he wore to the ball and took out the red velvet coloured box and headed downstairs.
Hera was still watching the roses intently and a clearing of throat brought her out of the trance she was in, she turned around to find the man she has fallen in love dressed in his spider man printed pajamas which instantly brought a smile on her face, Typhon was obsessed with spiderman and Hera had gifted him those as a joke but he found those Pjs absolutely adorable.
He approached her slowly and pulled her into his chest. Hera blushed furiously due to the sudden proximity and shyly looked up at him.
"What have you been doing, my love?" He asked whilst watching Hera with pure fondness.
"Nothing, Ty. Just watching the roses, they remind me of my mother." She replied with a faint smile on her lips and a look of melancholy in her eyes.
"How do they remind you of her?" He asked.
"Red roses, especially the blood red roses were her favourites. My mother had a thing for them. I had an entire album of her posing alongside roses." she said.
"Where is that album?" He asked.
"I...don't have it anymore. My step mother burned it in front of me when I 'disrespected' Hestia by not doing her homework. It was the only thing which kept me going in that hell hole...my father didn't even care, when I begged him to do something, he just stood there staring at the burned album with cold and distant look on his face. That was the day when I had given up on any hopes of gaining my father's love. I was just ten years old..." Hera didn't realize she was crying until Typhon wiped a tear off her cheek.
"It is okay, love. You don't need them. You have me..You have Ares and I promise you this, they're going to pay for what they have done to you..." Typhon stated whilst gritting his teeth.
Hera sniffled and snuggled into his chest as he lovingly stroked her back.
"Umm.. Hera?" He asked.
She looked up only to find him looking at her, she noticed that he was nervous and unsure.
" Yes?" she questioned furrowing her eyebrows.
He let go of her waist and scratched his neck nervously.
"I have been willing to do this for a long time..." he chuckled.
"What?" she asked, she was still confused.
Typhon got down on one knee and took out the box from his Pj pocket .
"Hera...my sweet sweet Hera....ever since I was a little kid, my father used to tell me that the woman I'd fall for will have the power to steady me and stir me all at once, I , as a naive kid definitely did not understand what he meant by that until I found you...funny isn't it? I wasn't even looking for someone to love when You bumped into me wearing a simple sundress looking for the same book I was looking for....the truth is you, you are my good days. I admire you Hera, I admire your strength and your bravery, I know you've been through hell and I admire how you're still here raising your son and being the compassionate woman you are....You taught me how to be kind in treacherous situations, Every day I've been falling in love with you a little bit more....believe me when I say that I am willing to fight this battle with you, I am willing to stand by you. So, Hera I am telling you , I have so much of you in my heart.....With this ring that I have to offer you, Hera..please become the purpose of my life... Marry me, Hera..."
Hera was in tears by the time he was done with his little speech, never in her life did she think that she would have a man to love let along marry..... She bend down to his level and cupped his face in her palm and kissed her ferociously...
"So, I take that as a 'Yes'..?" Typhon asked when they pulled apart.
Hera chuckled breathlessly and said, "Of course, you dumbo! I love you!!" She exclaimed as he let her slide the ring on.
They stood up and Typhon swiftly picked her up and twirled her around making Hera giggle like a school girl.
And that is when the fireworks went up in the air as the clock stuck midnight.
"Happy New Year, Mrs. Black." Typhon said with their foreheads pressed against one another.
"I like the sound of that! Happy New Year to you too." Hera giggled.
They connected their lips together under the sparkling midnight sky and delved into each other...
