"How many centuries deep is your wound?" - Adonis.
- CHAPTER 10 -
Third Person's P.O.V.
Xeus' blood boiled when he witnessed Hera in the arms of another man, his Hera was so content in someone else's arms, a man he has despised with every bone in his body, his biggest business rival, his arch enemy, Typhon Black. When he witnessed his Hera being claimed publicly by another man, he couldn't control himself, his pupils dilated and his palms were tightly held into fists, all he could see was red, rage and anger consumed him. He just let another man claim what was his. An involuntary growl erupted from his throat, his eyes zeroed on the arm draped over his woman's waist, his eyes were icy cold, Thalia's arm was possessively curled around his bicep.
Just like any other woman, she couldn't deny but feel slightest bit of jealousy for the woman her boss was ogling, when he h ad asked her to be his companion for the Ball, she squealed and couldn't contain the enormous butterflies which erupted in her belly, now she felt let down and humiliated because she knew that her boss was simply here to take the woman he loves home and now there was no possibility of them ever.
Hades and Pine were quite happy to see their ex sister in law standing on the podium next to the man she loves, they were happy because she was out of a toxic relationship and she did so well for herself, Hades loved his brother but he was never in favour of his crooked ways.
After the speech was over, the musicians were signaled to play their best piece and the couples were invited over the Ball room floor to enjoy the last evening of the year.
Typhon excused himself to go to the washroom whilst Hera made her way to her son who was seated on their designated table and was munching on some starters, Ares was beyond bored so he helped himself with food.
On her way to the table,Hera felt a harsh tug on her wrist and swiftly turned around only to come face to face with her ex husband Xeus and his date who was glaring daggers at her, she cleared her throat and snatched her wrist from his grip and put on a complete blank expression on her face.
"Hello, Mr. Knight. It's a pleasure to see you tonight." She said with a stony look on her face, Hearing her addressing him so formally he snarled at her, a snarl which once used to make Hera shiver for all the wrong reasons, but now she didn't even flinch, her face was devoid of any emotions and her posture was stiff, it was as if her body was replaced by a robot.
"Don't need to be so formal with me, Darlin'. I am not here to harm you in any way, I'm here to take you back, to where you belong." He casually shrugged expecting Hera to comply, but little did he know that it wasn't Hera he was talking to , it was Regina June, a woman who took no s**t from anyone and she wasn't going down without a fight.
"I belong here, Mr. Knight. Oh, where are my manners? I'm Regina June." She offered him a formal tight lipped smile and turned towards his date, "And you might be?" she asked raising her eyebrows slightly.
"Thalia, Xeus' date for tonight and also his P.A. " Thalia shook her hand firmly and turned towards her with a smirk hoping to see Hera grow jealous but she was surprised to see that there was none, her face was blank as usual.
"Ah, Mr. Knight...I see, you still haven't stopped with doing all your secretaries, have you? does you Donna know? I mean, she was your fiance when I last met her." Hera said nonchalantly.
Hearing this from her made his heart tug with pain, he looked Hera straight in the eye and said , "Donna was never my fiance, Hera. The divorce was a mistake, I have changed and I am taking you back with me to where you belong." Xeus commanded.
"I do not belong to you, I am not a possession and I am definitely not someone you can order around, the divorce wasn't a mistake, at least it wasn't for me, you say you've changed but your laid back attitude with your over demanding egoistic nature still hasn't changed. " Hera countered.
Xeus was taken back with her tone, it was like facing another woman in Hera's skin, it was like, he never knew her in the first place.
"Hera, do not make this hard on yourself, I'll drag you out if I have to." He stated.
"I'd like to see you try, Mr. Xeus Knight, do NOT forget your place and never ever command me. I Do NOT belong to whatsoever and I never did. Every cell in my body despises you and your pathetic ass. So, do yourself a favour and stop trying to ruin other's lives." Hera said and with that she turned around and made her way to her table.
She could still feel Xeus' eyes boring a hole at the back of her skull but she couldn't care less, she knew a lot more was to come and she wasn't going down without a good fight. Her wrath and her rage was going to destroy every single being who brought her dread.
Typhon was back within a next few minutes and sat down beside Hera. Her body was stiff and her face was flustered and he could practically feel the anger radiating off of her body. He knew something must've happened during his absence but, he decided not to pry at the moment, instead he decided to diffuse the tension by asking Hera for a dance, she giggled and complied but not before warning their bodyguards to ensure that no one approaches Ares in their absence because she knew Xeus would do so.
They made their way to the ball room dance floor, Hera's arms instinctively wrapped themselves around Typhon's neck and he had his arms wrapped securely around her waist, they moved slowly and steadily along with the soft soothing rhythm of music, gazing lovingly into each others eyes.
Typhon was the first one to break their secure blissful bubble, "You're beautiful, sometimes, I wonder why did you even agree on becoming my woman in the first place..." He trailed off.
" You're the first ever man who made me feel secure, a woman's first love is suppose to be her father, but it wasn't so in my case. I thought I loved Xeus, but it didn't take me much time to realize that I was forced to love him, I was forced to pretend, I was in love with the idea of being in love. You provide with warmth at cold and chilly nights, your arms provide me with a sense of security, You feel familiar, as if my soul has known you forever, you're the only one who never pushed me away and that makes me clung onto you and snuggle into your neck. I adore you and I love you with my entire being, and moreover you were the first man who understood that no matter what happen Ares would always be my first priority, you understood me. It should be me asking you that..." Hera rambled, almost nervous of channeling her own-self before him.
"It would too hard for me to not love you, my love for you're too well tangled into my soul." Typhon whispered and held onto her tighter and leaned in.
Their lips touched and Hera felt the entire universe inside of her crumble in a good way. Their kiss was slow and sensual, both of them were pouring out their love and faith onto one another through the kiss, their lips moved in sink but they had to depart for the need of oxygen.
Hera blushed and hid her face on his neck as he chuckled as they continued dancing.
Xeus was watching all of this unfold before his eyes and yet he couldn't do anything, he was furious and he wanted nothing more than ripping Typhon's head off of his shoulder. But he knew he couldn't do so, he couldn't interfere, he could just watch because he knew that Hera was respected here and so was he, he couldn't create a scene for it will affect his reputation. So, he just kept on watching his obsession in the arms of another man.
