The King and Queen

The next couple months went without a problem. She has gotten to know everyone in the town. Most of them were kind but some of them were...harsh. She can stay awake after drinking blood. It turned out that she can also communicate with the tiger and the rabbit with telepathy. And she can understand other tigers and rabbits. It was a useful skill, learning animal language by sucking their blood and healing them. She had became friends with several animals. She had also advanced far in medicine. Aurora was a great teacher. She learned everything in months except of years. Aurora was also shocked, "How did you study all that in mere months? This is impressive and impossible." "I just had a great teacher." "Stop flattering me, Mira. I heard that the capital had fallen. The King and Queen had come here, the last line of defense for this kingdom. Are you going to join the military?" "I am not sure. Maybe." "I heard everyone is joining. I am working there as a healer. People say that they test our skills before telling us what field to join. I certainly doesn't have any fighting experience to join the soldiers." "Maybe I will join with you. I need to think...and sleep." "Sleep tight, Mira. You are the night healer when I am the morning healer." She giggled. Mira rolled her eyes. When she woke up at night, she talk telepathically with her forest friends, "Hey, everyone." Several voices appeared in her mind, "Hello, you are awake, my lady." "I said, stop calling me, my lady. Why do you call me like that anyway?" "Because we are bound to you by blood." "So this is because I healed you with my blood?" "Correct, my lady." She sighed, "Can you look if the King and Queen of the human world is coming here?" "I don't know, my lady, but we saw soldiers and carriages passed through the forest. They will reach your town tomorrow." "So, war is coming?" "Yes." "And my tiger, I need blood." "You can find me where you first met me." She went outside and gracefully jumped onto the roof. Then she jumped over the wall and landed gracefully on the other side. "If war is coming, you should train. Although you have enormous strength and you are very hard to kill, you should still train yourself." She sighed as she sat beside her tiger, "I know but who will train a woman? They think women are supposed to work as lady of the house or healers." "Not to worry. I have seen men training and fighting." "What does that have to do with me?" "You can look into my memory, my lady. You can learn by using our memory." "Wow. Can I look at it even if you are asleep?" "I think so. I don't think we will wake up. I don't think we will even notice if you decide to look into our memory." "Thank you." "Of course. Would you like to try and look?" "Hmm...Sure. How do I do it?" "Just focus on us. You will enter the memory place like that and you can access all our memories. Time will not pass here when you're looking into our memory. But be careful not to get loss in there. You wouldn't be able to return." She focused. Nothing happened at first. She focused harder on the tiger. Her vision changed. She can see the memories of the tiger when behind windows. She also saw the memories of it, looking at soldiers sparing hand-to-hand curiously. She walked towards it and look through the window. The soldiers were clearly good. Their strikes were simple but powerful. None of them could get the upper hand. They were evenly matched. Sweats rolled down their body as they try to hit one another. Their eyes narrowed with determination. They backed away from each other for a moment, eyes never leaving their opponent. They both bent down, grabbing the swords on the ground. They circled each other, eyes never leaving, searching for mistakes in each other. One tripped, the other rushed forward. He barely block the strike and kick at him but he was already retreating. They met again in the middle, sparks flying. "Alright boys, that's enough. You know that you won't win against each other." Their heads turned, looking at a beautiful woman. "We know. If we fight, it is like training ourselves. We know each other's moves." "You can always spar with me." "No. I will not. You will just beat me with one hit." "That is true." "Ass." The memory ended. Mira didn't know how to get back. Maybe if she focused on herself..? Her breath catches and fall to the ground, "I thought women were not allowed on the army. Who was she?" "I don't know. But she smelled different from other human. She and both of the men. I am sure they are not human." "Don't everything smell differently?" "Yes, they do. But they smelled too different from other humans." "That is no matter. I need to drink blood." "Come quickly then." She walked faster. "If I can jump really high, I must be able to run really fast. Should I try?" "Maybe. If you think it's safe." "Nothing is safe." She ran normally. Then she ran with all her strength. Even with her quick reflexes, she barely dodged the tree in front of her. "Whoa. I am gonna need better reflexes if I want to run at this speed. No matter. What better way to practice than using it." She ran again, this time paying extra attention to her surrounding. If she really pay attention, she could easily dodged them but her eyes hurt after a moment. She reached to her tiger after 1 minute of running like that. "Come on, I will bite gently." "I am not afraid of pain.." She bit as gently as possible and started sucking the blood. "There, all done. Are you alright?" "Yes, I just need a moment." "Whatever you say." "What do you mean by that?" "Oh, nothing. I was just saying that I could heal you with a drop of my blood." "No need. I am fine." "Of course, you are. Now I will go back to Aurora and wait for the King and Queen to arrive in the morning. You should hunt too. You are getting thinner and thinner." "I am growing old. I can not hunt like I used to." "Maybe I can hunt for you. I am not taking 'no' for an answer." "As you wish." It was a pain to talk with them. They all talked formally like they were royalty. It was very exhausting. She jumped back onto the wall and saw thousands of soldiers matching towards the town with her sharp eyesight. She quickly went back into the house and practice magic. She had been getting better at controlling the flow of magic but she wasn't good enough to heal or even lift something that isn't herself. She could feel the flow better that night. She didn't know why but she could control it better. Maybe this time she could move something else other than herself? She did the simplest thing that came to her mind. She lifted her hand.
