Emma
“Why is that of interest to you?” Lucian asked with a cold stare.
“You have your secrets and I have mine Mr. Castle,” I replied with a wry smile, and before he could say anything else, I quickly added,
“If you want me to sign this contract, that’s the last condition you need to agree to, and I’ll need some of your guards to come with me.”
Lucian pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, he could tell I wasn’t going to make this easy if he didn’t agree. Heaving a tired sigh, he called,
“Bobby, Tim!”
Just in a minute, the door opened and two men dressed in all-black suits walked.
“You called for us boss?” They immediately bowed the moment they approached him.
“From now on, you’re to be Ms … personal bodyguards.” He instructed and the men nodded in response.
With a satisfied grin on my face, I pulled out my phone and texted Adam to meet up at Slauson Cafe and turned to leave.
I couldn’t believe this was happening, I’d waited three years for it and finally, I was going to be free from Adam.
Adam’s POV
Since that night at the hospital, I’d been searching everywhere for Emma for almost three years now.
I don’t know how she managed to escape, but my freedom depended on finding her. Sloan’s family was not going to let me walk away after almost killing their daughter that night.
Luckily the bullet only struck her leg and didn’t cause any permanent damage, but The Gunters were not that forgiving either. So now the only way I could defend myself was by finding Emma and forcing her to sign over her inheritance to me. That way, I’d have the power and wealth to defend myself against the Gunters and Sloan would come back to me knowing that I’d succeeded in our plan.
Working late one night, I received a call from a strange number and reluctantly I answered it.
My entire body froze when I heard the voice of the caller - it was Sloan. She sounded very calm, almost as if she had forgotten everything that had happened, which made her motives even more confusing when she told me she’d found where Emma was hiding.
I’d taken the next flight down to (her city) although not knowing her precise location, so you could imagine my shock when Emma texted, asking me to meet up.
She was either incredibly bold or stupid. One thing was certain, I would make sure she regrets running away with my children, and take her entire inheritance. After all, we were still married.

Walking into Slauson cafe, I scanned my eyes and saw her sitting at the far corner of the room with her head in her phone and a smile pasted on my lips.
Adjusting myself, I strode towards her direction. As furious and disgusted by her sight, as I was, I needed to remain calm and composed until she signed over her inheritance to me.
Immediately her gaze caught mine as I approached her table, I suddenly broke into character,
“Babe, where have you been?”
“Why didn’t you tell me where you were? Do you know how much I’ve been searching for you? I thought I was never going to see you again.” I cried.
Emma remained seated, unmoved by all my displays which deep down infuriated me. I’d expected a better reaction from her, especially as she was the one who called me.
“What’s going on Emma?” I asked, sitting down in front of her, but again, she didn’t bother to say anything.
I was still trying to get answers out of her, when she suddenly opened her purse, took out some documents, and tossed them in front of me.
“What’s this, Emma?” I asked, staring at her with confusion.
“Something I’ve been waiting to give you for three years,” she replied with a smile on her face.
Intrigued, I flipped open the document and my brows immediately furrowed in anger when I saw what it was.
“I’ve already signed my signature everywhere, I just need you to sign yours,” Emma said with a plain face.
My jaws instantly slackened as I looked at the paper where she’d already signed, and in that moment, panic set in.
This was not the plan. There was no way in hell I was going to sign this.
“D-divorce? Why are you asking me to do this? There’s nothing wrong with us.” I stammered, looking at her directly in the face, demanding an explanation.
However, she didn’t bother. She just casually stood up and turned to walk away,
“You crazy b***h, you think you can just use me and dump me?” I raged, grabbing her hand forcefully, but just then I felt a strong hand jerk my grip away from her, and turning around, a heavy punch landed on my face sending me to the ground.
Slowly, she turned towards me and called off the boar of a man who was about to pound on me, “Bobby, I think that’s enough.”
Staring down at me, Emma heaved a sigh, “I’ll be in touch, and oh have a great life with Sloan. I’ll be coming back for the papers tomorrow.”
My face filled with rage as I stared at her, wondering where she’d gotten such confidence and audacity from.
“We’re ready to go, Mrs. Castle,” the tall hefty man beside her called, and at that point, I was filled with even more confusion.
“Mrs. Castle?” I muttered.
