The Trap

"Sarah, did you talk to guild master about me joining the scout?" (Kat)

"Yes, I did, but it went the wrong way. One of the adventurers said that the sisters shouldn't get in harm's way. Then when it was pointed out, you only want to look for a Goldhorn, they decided to get one for you. I asked, "What you want her to owe you something like a date?" Which was replied that date isn't a bad idea but was thinking, she could use her bonus coins from finding the white boar as a payment to whoever gets her a Goldhorn. I told them that I'd ask. What do you think?" (Sarah)

"What would happen if they get more then one?" (Kat)

"I'll buy all of them." (Martha)

"Then It's ok with me. I don't know how much is the bonus. If I don't have to hunt Goldhorn, it's all good for me." (Kat)

"I thought you would say that. Then let the adventurers huntaway. You wanted to change your métier a lot of times. How about we go to town and visit the temple and change your métier. We could do a girl out." (Sarah)

"I don't have the funds for that yet. I also need to do some reading." (Kat)

"You should think of me as a friend. A friend came over to play. You see, I live with my husband and his father. My father-in-law's wife passed away. The butler is a male. Maid and cook are the only females; I can't be close friends with them. The only ones I could be considered as friends would be the sisters. They could kick me out of their house. Thank God, they don't.

Instead of sticking around inside all day, I thought about having a girls day out to the town. We could visit different shops. It's more fun going together. I can't leave you all alone in this house with a bunch of men outside. I'll cover the expenses of the outing as a friend. When you have money, you can take me out. What do you think?" (Sarah)

"I don't see why not." (Kat)

"Get ready to go, and I'll let guild master know about your choice." (Sarah)

Sarah went outside and had another meeting.

"Kat only needs one Goldhorn. She was worried about overkill; She doesn't know that there is no way to overkill them. She is putting up her money for this hunt. It will be split between those that contributed to getting as many of the Goldhorn and the white boars. The amount is 5'000 mar.

The rest of the sisters will contribute to healing expenses. Those who want to do it from your true feelings for the sisters can donate it to them.

I'll take the girls into town. The sisters will be staying at my house until the hunt is over. I'll make sure all expenses get paid. Guild master will inform me of the total debt of the sisters. Thank you for your quick response." (Sarah)

Sarah returned to the house. They left for the town; It was a beautiful stroll. Kat enjoyed the scenery. The road was bumpy, so she had to walk carefully. Once and a while, a carriage would pass by. Kat was wondering what kind of shops are there.

They got to the town gate. Entering was faster this time for Kat. They walked towards an outside market. The market had different stalls; Some sold ingredients, premade equipment, and some sold quick snacks.

Kat had to stop at the snack shops. The sellers were very informative. They even told her what seasoning they used. Kat overate. Her happy face vanished.

"I can't believe I ate this much. I didn't get to eat at every stall; This is the merchant guild doing." (Kat)

"What are you talking about?" (Diana)

"You don't know? Not everyone is locals. You have few people that never were in this town come to the market. They try like I did different things that they never tried. There is enough to try that you get full; This means I will need to wait until later.

Then I find out that they close before dinner. Now I will need to stay another day in town to try it. Tomorrow I will find out that I tried all that they serve.

Then I ask, wasn't there yesterday something like this or that. Then I get informed that those are every other day. Now I got to stay another day in town to try it. Buyers don't notice that it's a merchant trap to stay in town and spend more money. I now lots of merchants trap. I don't believe I fell for it." (Kat)

"I don't think they did it on purpose. I am curious about these traps." (Diana)

"Oh, I forgot. This kingdom runs on the old system. Your merchants haven't felt despair to start creating traps." (Kat)

"Give us another example of traps." (Sarah)

"Take clothing. You can premake clothing. Set up numbers for sizes. People could buy them as is. It just happens that most people will fall in between the numbers. Then you need to pay an hourly fee for the seamstress to adjust it. Students make premade clothing. The nobility knows and will pay an hourly fee plus the cost of materials made by a professional. It comes about twice the price of the premade clothing or more. It's the same clothing, but nobility could say it was made by a professional. It's a trap to spend more for the same thing." (Kat)
