The Hunt Begins

Chapter Eight ~Ambrose~ I can feel my inner animal clawing at me to escape so he can hunt. The intense emotion I feel all over my body makes my muscles ache. Every atom in my body needs to burst out and I need to run. Run to find her. The girl wearing her scent has given me all the information I need. She can't leave this building fast enough. I feel like I could dive out of this window right now into the streets not caring who sees my beast. I hear the elevator door 'open and close' with my sensitive hearing. I grab the jacket and phone off my desk and walk out of my office door. My brother, Charles, steps infront of me before I make it to the elevator. I push him aside with all the aggression in my body. I could see he was genuinely hurt by my actions not understanding why I am so angry. In this moment I have almost no control and my body begins to shake. He was only pushed back a few feet with my response, but everyone had seen what I had done. And the room was tensed. I look out into the eyes of my peers watching us. I feel a little embarrassed and begin to regain my control. I put my hand up apologizing to the mass when I look at my brother. "Come with me" I say, as I make my way to the elevator. When we got in, Charles asked why I brought that girl back. As it wasn't normal and can even be considered illegal to bring a human there with out good reason. I look at him questioning my actions and I can feel the fury written all over my face. I can feel my fangs growing. I bring my fist to my face and crack my neck attempting to calm down. "It was the scent" I finally find a way to speak past my clenched jaw. I can feel every muscle in my body pumping. Ready to destroy anything that comes in my way. "What about her scent?" Charles asked, trying to get more information out of me while walking on eggshells. I look at him with a deadly glare when he realizes immediately what has happened and asks "Well why did you let her go?" "It wasn't "her"scent" I respond. He nods at me in understanding. We make our way to the car garage. We walk up to my brother's green jeep. It has the top and doors removed, so I jump in impatiently waiting for him to get into the driver's seat. We pull out of the lot. Charles stops at the exit waiting for my direction, I put the jacket to my nose and breath in the deeply. I can feel the beast in me howl and my body wants to turn. I stand up in my brother's jeep to sniff the air, and point him in the direction to go. Flying down the empty highway, we reach the edge of the city. I jump out at high speed and feel my all fours hit the ground hard as I race towards her. When my body changes into a wolf it sucks all the atoms around me, even my clothes, an turns it into pure muscle. I can hear my brother call my name as I run along him making my way to the tree line. I'm not concerned. I know he will be able to find me where ever I go, but my beast could no longer contain itself as we got closer. The scent took me to a home at the edge of the woods, I could feel myself slow down, and my body transforms and I begin to walk on two again. I ran to the door and kicked it in. My beast was still in control even though I have changed back to my human form. I run up the stairs, my senses leading me. I walk through the closed door expecting to see the woman I was desperately hunting on the other side. I sighed in defeat to see the room empty, but her scent permeates the air. At this point the scent is engraved in my very being. Something I will never forget. My phone rings and I take it out of my pocket. Seeing the caller ID is my superior, my mind instantly clears, and I realize all that I've done. From the moment I picked the scent up at the raid until now I have been going completely against my commands. I have used my authority to commit crimes bringing in a human, I have assaulted a member of my own pack. Even though he's my brother, my superiors won't see it that way. I have kicked in the door and entered into a humans home. "Fuuuuck" I growl dreading the conversation I will have to have. "Yes sir" I answer. "I hear you have been up to no good son" my father, the alpha of our pack on the other end. "Non the less we shall address this at another time" he speaks in a formal authoritative tone. " I have just finished my meeting with the humans. I have briefed their leaders on the vampiric activity in the city and rising murders. They have agreed to work with us to help prevent any unwanted information from getting out to the public. They have assigned a homicide detective to the case, and I will need you to speak with him about the situation. And insure he doesn't intervene." I hang up the phone as I can hear in my father's voice that he is done. Even though I haven't found her, my beast is excited that we are so close hot on her trail. Every second, her scent is easier to pick up. I can feel it all around me and all through this town, but there's only one other place in town where it is as strong as her home. I decide to ride with my brother to where it resides. Wanting to be in human form when I finally catch her. As we pulled down the driveway, I asked my brother to stop before we got too close. I step out of the jeep and breathe in the air. I looked to my brother and said "She's not here" Charles responds saying "We will find her, but right now we have to go. By now the human is waiting for us at headquarters." I know that he is right and we are both compelled to listen to the commands of our Alpha. Feeling satisfied, being this close is the only thing that allows me control of my actions. I turn to him and say " first I must return something" I grabbed the jacket and silently approached the home. I leave it in the open for her to see so she knows I will find her soon find her. That's when it occurs to me that I still have the phone of the woman I had taken earlier that night. She had called the very beast I was hunting right infront of me. My heart was thumping so loud in that moment I couldn't even hear her voice on the other line. But right here, right now, I can. I grab the phone that was in my pocket with out hesitation and called the last dialed number. The caller ID reads "Calypso" I wait only for a second when I hear her voice.
