Behind the Shades

~Calypso~ I was stunned looking out the doorway. Into the eyes of my mate. Alive. The moment our eyes lock our bond is remade. I feel Ambrose in my heart, bound to my soul. I felt the rhythm of our hearts slow as seconds pass by like eons. "Is this happening" I whisper as Rory walks up beside me. When Magnus sees her, he begins to approach us. His eyes baring power he didn't have before. His stride is strong, and his face dissecting Rory's every movement. He blocks the view of Ambrose. Breaking our eye contact. When a sound of thunder strikes. Rumbling through the air so hard I could feel it in my chest. To my surprise this thunder did not come from the skies, but from a beast. A beast behind Magnus. As the beast took form, his body began drawing all the energy around him like a collapsing star. Atoms in the air flew towards him like beads of light. His body was illuminating as he consumed it. His flesh sparked with electricity in his final form. The largest beast I've ever seen. A Lycan. Fierce and full of power, Ambrose quickly approached my brother in a battle. Ambrose unlocked something inside of him. Evolving from a wolf to a lycan right before our eyes. Something that hasn't been seen for centuries. He is a Lycan, but not like any lycan seen on this earth today. Something much more. Much greater. His power was unmatched as I watched him grab Magnus. Before Magnus even had a chance to turn into his beast form. I hear my sister scream behind me "STOP!" We both run as fast as we can up to the two beasts now brawling. I grab my mate as he tries to devour Magnus, and at my touch he immediately retreats his attack. And returns back into his human. Rory grabbed Magnus, and dragged him far enough away from Ambrose that he couldn't attack him again. Ambrose turns to me and lifts me in his arms, hugging me so tight I can't breathe, but it doesn't matter. I wrapped my legs around him, and kissed his lips. He moaned against me, and I put my hands on his face, grabbing a hold of his beard, and pulled him in closer. When the sound of piercing flesh hits my ears, and the smell of blood enters the air. I let go of Ambrose to see Rory standing over our brother with blood on her hands, and a knife on the ground. "You should have killed me" she whispers talking to our brother. When Rory looks to me, smiling proud of what she has done. It wasn't Rory behind her eyes. It was her beast. All the moments we spent together, I have never felt her beast. Absent behind the shades of her eyes, but I see now. She has always been there, planning her movements carefully. This was always what her beast wanted. Rory kneels down to Magnus as his body attempts to heal. She reaches into his mouth and rips his fangs out as he screams "No Rory!" Begging her. Rory clasped Magnus's bloody teeth in her fist, tight. So tight that the blood spilling out of her fist wasn't just Magnus's. She looks back to me and I feel her beast psychically connect with me. "I'll come for you soon, don't get in our way" she communicates before Rory runs off into the night. I drop to my knees beside my brother. I hold him as I watch him die. I look into his eyes. Searching my mind for something to say. I don't want it to end this way. Magnus chokes out "I'm sorry." And blood begins to spill from his mouth. "I was never going to kill Ambrose. I never wanted to hurt you." Magnus says, grunting past his labored breathing. " I just knew I had to stop her" Magnus goes on saying, as tears left his eyes and he looked away from me ashamed of them. "I had to try" he says. Seeing Magnus this close, I could see his youth. He walked and talked like a man but Magnus was just a boy. He reached up to grab a wad of my t-shirt, and pulled me close making sure he had my attention. "It's her beast. She can't control it" he says, losing his breath. I put my hand to his cheek and try to wipe the blood away that is spilling out of his mouth. "I wish I could have known you." was the last thing Magnus said, before he slipped away. I looked to Ambrose standing above us. "Why is he gone? Why isn't he healing?" I choke out, realizing I am now crying. Ambrose stood their speechless for a moment unable to find the words. "It is your sister... She did something that can't be undone." he pauses. "If you take a wolf's fangs, they die" Ambrose whispered.
