The Singing Siren

~Calypso~ Weeks passed as everyone's life around me just went back to normal. I pretended to do the same, I pretended to be strong, and I pretended I was happy to be home. But this home, this life. It didn't belong to me anymore. My room, my things, even my own reflection reminded me of death. The death of the old me. And some how the "new me" found herself right back in the same prison I've lived in my whole life. My home. James has been gone for a while now. He left the moment he found out about my mate. Deceased or not he felt betrayed, and I didn't blame him. My heart belongs to a memory. A memory of someone I didn't even really know, and James couldn't bare to see that. And eventually I decided I would do the same . Leave it all behind and start new. I didn't know where I would go, but I knew I wouldn't find what I needed here. It wouldn't be hard for me to leave. I had the means too. A small fortune had recently deposited into my bank account. I didn't need to ask to know it was from, Rory. I packed in the night. I didn't say my good byes. I just left. I took one last look at my house before I jumped in my truck. I wondered if I would ever return. New York, New York A city filled with beasts. Around every corner, in every building, and down every street creatures of all kinds roam. Dominating the city and the people in it. So crowded it's easy to go unnoticed. Lights so bright it burned and blurred the lines of reality. A perfect place to get lost from the world, and also be able to find oneself at the same time. It didn't take long before I realized I was surrounded by people just like me. Everyone here seems to be running from something, and no one asks questions. My first night I pulled into a hotel, paid for a room, dumped my stuff on the bed, and just went for a walk. I needed to do something to shake off the adrenaline that has been building up in my veins. In the icy air I could hear music dancing in the wind. A faint melody at first, but one I followed. There was something about the sound, alluring me like a siren. I followed the melody as it snaked down an ally to a pink neon sign that read "The Singing Siren". A man, well not really a man. A beast stood in front of the door. Turning almost everyone away that tried to enter. I walked a bit closer just out of curiosity. When to my surprise he stepped aside and opened the door inviting me in. As I entered I was hit with a sweet smell that filled the air. It covered up the musky scent of men that were lured inside. A woman was on stage wearing a short red dress, and red lipstick that bounced against her chocolate skin. Her hair short and in waves sculpted against her head. And her voice enchanting everyone in the room. Filling the room with s****l tension. I went to the bar, and was immediately handed a drink by one of the bartenders. "First one is on me" she says. "Really, wow, thank you" I say before I swallow the glowing blue shot she set infront of me. My face scrunches and I put my hand up to my nose as I blow out fumes. "That is not alcohol" I say, as I choke on the taste. "It's our house drink, a Bloody Siren, it won't hurt." She yells over the sound of the music. I laugh and order another one letting it numb all the pain I have built up inside. Even my beast enjoyed its sensation. I began to draw attention from the men and beasts in the room around me. Their eyes trying to catch my gaze. The seats beside me began to fill up, and multiple drinks were being sent my way. When I notice the woman onstage motion to one of the bartenders. The bartender goes and takes her place on stage, and she begins singing a new melody capturing the attention of all the men in the room, once again. The woman in the red dress walks through the crowd and comes straight to me. Her walk was elegant and her curves swayed with each step. She extends out her hand and asks "Can I get you another drink?" "Oh, you know, I think I've had enough" I say, standing up off the bar stool intending to leave. "Please I insist! Will you join me in the back, I have something extra special back there" when she says this, I notice two men joined me at my side. They were Obviously her body guards ready to escort us to the back. She turns and leads the way to a door just beside the stage and I followed. When I entered, the two men closed us inside, leaving the two of us alone. When the door closed it drowned out all the sound from the festivities just outside. It was a low-lit room, swirls of smoke filled the air. Two emerald velvet couches sat in the middle of the room. One across from another with a coffee table in-between. She goes to sit on a couch and grabs one of the crystal decanters on the coffee table and begins to serve up two glasses. I came and sat across from her. Now that we are alone, I can smell her scent. She is clearly not human.
