Charade

Chapter Thirteen ~Calypso~ I see Seraphine's face in shock as I tell her Rory is alive. She remains speechless, but her eyes are full of question. She stands up and says "We must alert the royal guard. Can you pinpoint her location?" "The guard isn't to be trusted" I snap almost instinctually. I don't know why, but I can feel it. "I see Rory here with us right now. She sees and knows what I know and I see her the same. She doesn't know where she is, but I feel a pull that I think will lead me to her. But I also feel a warning. This isn't something we can do alone" "There are still a few trustworthy packs in the area. We could have them here before sunset" Seraphine begins to plan when my phone buzzes in my pocket. I go to reach for it to see Anora's number. I answer feeling my beast irritated with me for concerning my self with this. "Hello" I answer. When I realize Anora is not the only one on the other line. I feel my beast make all the hairs on my body stand up and my eyes flash at my father. He had told me Gretchen had been taken by a group of vampires. When I hear Gretchen's voice. Instantly my instincts can feel a change. As her voice flowed harmonically through the speaker, I realized what she had become. I wasn't the only one preparing to hunt tonight. I hang up the phone. I can feel my beast hesitant, but she felt my need to help my friends and it became her need as well. I didn't speak a word to anyone as I began to run towards Anora's home. It wasn't far from where we are at, and with my speed it would only take a few moments. I didn't know what I would do when I arrived. It has been less than an hour since I became aware of what I am. And now here I am running towards something I don't understand. I slow as I come closer to Anora's home. I use my new found sight and hearing to try and identify the situation. I can smell coffee brewing, and I can hear Gretchen talking and giggling away with so much joy inside. Though neither my beast nor I am fooled with the charade. I take a deep breath of the cold air, and I let the physical aspects of my beast retreat. But she still remains equally in control. I walk up and open the door. Anora looked at me completely surprised, but my eyes weren't on her. Or Gretchen. But on the Red head sitting at the table. For a second I was caught off guard as I realized that this is the same woman James brought to town. I look back and forth between all three of them when I hear Anora. "How did you get here so fast? I didn't hear you pull up" " Well, well, you are different" the red head says, before I could respond to Anora. "Anora, can you come outside" I ask quickly. "No, no, let's not keep secrets" the red head speaks again "let's not beat around the bush." She stands up, and walks towards me. A smile of pure evil across her face. "I know, I'm the girl that James brought to town, but we can get past that. I'm Octavia" she says, as she extends her hand out to me. I see Gretchen stand up in the corner of my eye but I didn't want to look away from my target. Gretchen slowly creeps behind Anora when I sense Gretchen readying herself for an attack. In that moment my heart broke. Gretchen was no longer the same. My beast takes control as I throw my hand out, claws retracted, aiming towards Octavia's face. Octavia's speed surprised me as she easily avoided my attack. When growls begin to roar from behind me. Seraphine enters the home she must have followed me. She runs to Anora in an attempt to claw her away from Gretchen. I throw another attack at Octavia when I feel a hand wrap around my neck. Octavia laughs as I feel myself getting dragged back into the chest of a man. I look up to see the eyes of my attacker. My eyes catch the sight of James's familiar Devilish smile. He leans down and sinks his teeth deep into my neck. Injecting his venom. I feel a rush of euphoria. I feel weak again in his arms like I always have. I pressed my body deeper into his craving his touch. I feel him pull out and gently kiss where he penetrated me. And his chest rumbled the word "Mine" I can feel the patters of multiple wolf's foot steps approaching at a high speed. I look into the eyes of my captor as he looks around the room confirming with the other vampires to leave. Seraphine was in a protective stance in front of Anora ready to give her life in that moment. When James barks at Gretchen "Leave her for now." James swoops me in his arms and dashes outside to Octavia's car. James slipped us into the back seat still holding me hard against his chest. Gretchen and Octavia got in the front seats and we sped off into the night.
