Chapter 24

~Calypso~

I was relived when my mate I were finally alone warming ourselves by the fire.

Our connection was so strong. He came into my life right when I needed him. I couldn't see myself facing this world with out him by my side.

"Ambrose" he says, catching me out of a deep thought.

I stare at him. His eyes deeply intertwined with mine.

"Huh?" I ask.

"My name" his voice is so deep. It is like a baritone choir.

"Oh" I say, looking down and ashamed I never asked.

In my eyes he didn't need a name he just was. My soulmate. My other half. Him and I, we felt the same.

"I never thanked you… For coming for me" I tell Ambrose.

"I don't know how I could have lived another second with out you" he responded and it nearly made me cry.

I haven't had any time to process any of this emotion. My life is forcing my step leading me into the dark. Into the unknown.

"Even now? With all my baggage?" I ask, sarcastically.

"There is nothing more important to me than standing beside you, in every battle you face" he responds.

I could feel us moving in close. The thought of his lips on me only made me relive the memories we had last night.

When I hear my name being called in the distance.

"Caly!"

It was Anora and my parents were just behind her. Anora came running up, and I stood up expecting her embrace. We hugged so tight, and I'm so relieved she is OK and honestly surprised to see her here.

Still hugging me, she said

"I knew he would find you"

My parents came around and joined our little hug. In that second, I felt like everything was going to be OK.

That is when the sound of multiple trucks start pulling up. My mate goes to stand in front of us and I join him. I see Ambrose tense at the sight of the black SUVs and trucks pulling in, but he doesn't seem afraid.

I see Seraphine run up to them followed by another male wolf.

"Who do you think it is?" I ask Ambrose.

Sensing he knows something I don't.

All at once multiple beasts exit the vehicles. I can smell wolf's, vampires, harpies, fairies, elfs, banshees, and who knows what else. I see Seraphine, and the man beside her, address them and submit to their presence. They then turn toward us showing them where they will find me.

I feel a twinge of fear when my mate tells me

"Don't be afraid"

My beast gets a little angry at him doubting my courage, but I know I can't deny that he knows my every emotion.

A man approaches with a few beasts following him.

"Father" Ambrose addresses him.

I can sense that this is his Alpha, and he is compelled under his command.

His father doesn't acknowledge his greeting but speaks to me

" William Royal guard." He identifies himself.

" We are here to protect you. You will need to come with us"

I look up to Ambrose. I know he won't let them take me, but his expression stayed forward looking hard as ice.

"No" I demand.

Now holding on so tight to my mate. I can see my dominance affects the Alpha before me, but not all the beasts behind him were wolf's and they weren't as easily swayed by my authority.

"Take her" he said, and I took a step back, but my mate held onto my hand not allowing me to leave.

He looked to me eyes begging

"Please go with them. They are your best chance! We can help you!"

I knew Ambrose believed what he was saying was true, but I was betrayed. My heart broke so deeply. He looked down on me with eyes still begging me. Begging me not to feel this way. Begging me to go.

I feel my beast starting to change my form when one of the beasts before me aims a gun and shoots me in the leg. I grabbed what lodged in my thigh. To see an empty vile. I looked to Ambrose for one last hope that he would save me when I fell to the floor.
