Our Story

~Calypso~ We drove in silence for a long time. The only thing to be heard were my sobs. It was so dark around us all you could see were the lines on the road. I wanted to be happy. I had my sister in my arms, but my beast was broken. My heart was broken. My love was gone. And even though I've won, I feel defeated. My beast was silent ignoring me. Other than an occasional howl of pain she was silent. Leaving me alone for my weak mind to tremble. I can't stop replaying the events that happened tonight over and over in my mind. Reliving the feeling of our bond being broken. Reliving all the pain. If I wasn't dragged away, I would have laid on my mate to die along with him. Sigrith finally pulled off the main road. We have been driving now for hours, and we are far from any place I recognize. I see Octavia look to her and Sigrith responds "It's my brother's place. There is no where safer" We pull up to a gate off the beaten path. We enter through an iron woven fence that arched above us. The we began driving down a long dirt road. Even after we entered the property it took us nearly twenty minutes to pull up to the giant estate. A man watched us from the home as we pulled in. He began to descend the steps as we approached. His presence was so dark, it almost seemed as if a shadow followed him everywhere he went. "Stay in the car for just a moment" Sigrith says as she exits, slamming the door behind her. The sound of the door made my sister stir a moment. My eyes shot down at her seeing if she would wake. I was distracted and didn't hear the words that were exchanged outside of the vehicle. The back door opened beside me and my eyes shoot to the man opening the door. My face streaked with tears and arms clutching my sister. "There is no need to be afraid" he puts his hand out to help me out. I have never been so lured by a vampire's voice, with out being under the influence of their venom of course. His deep voice coaxed me as he spoke. Convincing me with every word. I felt as if I could trust him. He helped me out of the car, and reached back in to pick up my sister in his arms. Tall, strong, and handsome. His body moved like a waltz. Skin the color of carved ivory. His hair was black as the night, eyes gold, and stern. He walked past me and said "Follow me". As he ascends the stairs, he calls back to his sister. "Sigrith bring your friends inside." I look back to my friends and James immediately exits the vehicle to join me by my side. I don't acknowledge him. The pain of losing my mate only makes me reject him more. We approached the doors of the home. Everything looked dark and neglected, but inside was bright and alive. The tall windows that lined the front of the house are covered by heavy weighted curtains. That prevented any of its beauty to be seen from the outside. Two stair cases lay before us when we enter. One on either side of a massive room that led to a second and third story. A library lay between the stair cases covering every inch of the wall except where it parted into one long hallway. Desks, stacks of books, and victorian furniture randomly scattered about. He laid my sister down on a lounge chair, and I went to sit on my knees by her side. I put her hand in mine and there I waited. Hours passed and my sister never woke. I could see her body was fatigued lacking any nutrition. Her skin still had dried blood all over it where her wounds once were, but has since healed now that she is out of her chains. I was alone with her awhile now. Everyone has left to give us space. Except James, which I asked him to leave myself. I can't stand his lingering eyes. His want to talk to me, to be close to me made me sick. It was already mid day and I imagine the sun would be setting soon. When Sigrith and Octavia came up with snacks in their hands. I didn't look up to them when they sat down beside me, but instead I kept my eyes on my sister. They started cracking bags of chips open and chatting amongst each other. Octavia extends a water out to me, and I accept it. "She will be awake soon, I'm sure. The wolf's bane should be out of her system. Her body must just be exhausted" Octavia says, trying to console me. And I was relieved to hear this. "Where are we?" I ask. "We are at my brother's home in New Orleans. You don't have to worry it's safe here" Sigrith says, casually while munching away on vegan chips. I sat there silently while they talked. Laughing like two old friends seeing each other for the first time in years. When I hear Sigrith refer to her brother as "Van" my eyes shoot to her. And she just awkwardly held eye contact for a moment while she finished her sentence. And then said "What?" with a half laugh. "Nothing, you just said something that caught my attention." "What did I say?" Sigrith asked with one eye brow lifted. "When you called your brother Van" I pause for a second. "You know, like Van Helsing" I respond. "Yeah, Van Helsing, that's his name" Sigrith says, her eyes roll a little sarcastically at the thought of her brother. My mouth drops, and I look back and forth between them. And they both laugh. "What about him?" Sigrith asks. "What about him? Haven't you seen the movies? He's a vampire hunter!" I say, with my eyes all wide. "Ugh, those are so lameeee" Sigrith responds. "So it's true?" I ask, surprised. "No, not at all! Maybe a little, but no" Sigrith shakes her head. Octavia now laughing so hard her fangs are showing and she's choking on her chips. I felt a little embarrassed for a moment, but Sigrith went on telling me about her family. Sigrith and Van were born in the 1300s. When a vampire came and plagued the land. Turning whole town's into vampires. Including her family. Then one day he came back and tried to imprison all the vampires he turned and was mostly successful. ~Sigrith~ My family became his slaves. Slaves to his venom. He would forcefully inject us with it so we would abide to his every will. He forced all of us to fight in the war. At the time Vampires were at the head of all beasts. And we were being challenged by a new kind of Beast. An evolved form of the werewolf. stronger, faster, they live much longer, and are nearly impossible to kill. A Lycan. This arrival brought together all werewolf packs everywhere. They united together for the first time behind one leader, and we became pons in the war. We were used in masses to flood the battle field. To prevent any success from the ones that tried to fight against us. And we fought. Not because we wanted to, but because we had to. Forced by the venom pumping in our veins. When one day Van broke our captors spell. His strength helped him overcome the hold the venom had on him. And since has never been swayed by another vampires venom. That day my brother slit our captors throat, and everyone of us that was under the control of his venom instantly became free. Me and what was left of my family fled. Others came with us, but a lot chose to stay. Chose to keep fighting, and eventually lost. Since then the lycans have been our leaders. They have united us in a way that we have never been as a nation before. All treated equally for it is impossible for a lycan to put one race over another. The moment a lycan vows leadership over all beasts we become one pack in their mind, one nation, and they will protect us as such. What we didn't know. Is that our captor was a highly respected guard. And for his death they put a bounty on my brother's head. We were hunted for many years. We killed until everyone who knew of the bounty was dead, but my brother didn't stop. Van has made it his mission to find all the sick, f****d up beasts and humans in this world and eliminate them. Royal or not. We do not live by the rules of the world, but by our own honor. That's why still to this day Sigrith and her Brother do not drink blood and choose to live their life in the dark.
