For about an hour the Alpha's and I discussed options. I know I can use my connection to find her and with Seraphine's suggestion we can use a witch to amplify the connection to help pin point my sister's exact location. We discussed recruiting more trusted beasts, and leaving as soon as possible before any word could get out of our plans.
We parted ways each having our own duties to tend to in preparation for our mission. Seraphine had left to retrieve the witch, and only my mate and the oldest alpha stayed around the fire.
Lupon was his name. His hair was white which led down to his white beard. Behind all his hair you could tell he was quite handsome, but even in his human form he looked like a beast. He stared across the fire at us.
"I was once too, in a position like you. Being born as a twin, both having the right to lead, is not a fortunate path. It must not have been easy to choose to step down from your title" he says, as a statement, but I know he is eager for me to explain.
"It wasn't my choice" I say, slightly under my breath.
"Still, it must not be your intention to assume your position or why would you organize this rescue and not just take the throne" he leads the conversation hoping to find answers to his questions.
My beast sneers at that statement. I would never leave my sister to rot.
"Like you said it is my birth right" I can feel my beast speak through me feeling entitled to her position.
"So you intend to challenge her?" Lupon asks.
"No" I say swiftly, but I can tell my inner beast is not so sure.
He looks me up and down trying to read me, and begins to speak.
"Being born to be the next Alpha was exciting for both my brother and I, when we were children. We would plan all the great things we would do for our pack. Things I still try to do for mine to this day" insinuating his brother is no longer around.
"What happened to your brother" I asked.
He responds
"There can only be one leader, and to the death Alpha's never back down."
