The next few days were busy for Peter and Mel, but every chance they got they would check on the separated couple. Damien eventually came out of his room and started running every patrol Peter would let him on, but he hardly spoke, and everyone gave him even more space than normal after he caught a couple slacking off the first day and almost tore their heads off.
Serenity answered all questions to the best of her ability, and Peter admitted he had no reason to doubt her sincerity, but he was still adamant about taking her to the elders. He kept her phone on him at all times in case a message came through, but for four days there was nothing.
