Chapter 2

1734 Words
RACHEL'S POV Today is the day that our Entertainment Week starts and about the preparation? It went well for the most part and, just like what Jessica said that time, the three stubborn jerks cleaned the room for 3 days before paying their contribution. Such great classmates we have. They’re just popular because of their “precious” faces, but their attitude can stress you out IF you’re not as crazy as their “fangirls.” “I hope many students will participate in our booth,” Claire nervously chuckled as she took one last look at our booth, making sure that we put everything we needed. “Relax, this is not a contest. Besides, we’re the only ones who have this “jail” concept for a booth. I’m pretty sure they’ll be interested in this,” I confidently said to calm Claire’s nerves. When it comes to Entertainment Week, she gets nervous about our booth, but overall, she’s calm. I promise. “Is it okay if I check out other booths? I’m getting hungry seeing those food booths,” I asked Claire, who is only smiling now at students who passed by our booth. She looked at me with a smile and nodded. She needs to chill now. As I walked around alone (God knows where Jessica is right now), I saw a few booths with the same concept that I keep seeing every year. The marriage booth, the horror booth that is not even scary, an escape room which is always easy and without any thrill, and of course, it may be there every year but I still love it, the photo booth. You can expect to see those booths every year, but food booths never fail. In fact, they’re my favorite in Entertainment Week. As I looked around for an interesting and tasty food booth, I felt a presence walking beside me. “I see, you’re hungry now,” Martin said as we both looked around for food that would attract our attention. “Oh, you can’t deny it. This is the best part of Entertainment Week,” I said, which made him chuckle. A little information about Martin is that I think he’s the nicest and the most normal among the three. Many girls fall in love with him because of his perfect eyebrows and his sweet smile, but his personality stands out too. “You want to eat nachos?” he said as he pointed at a Mexican-themed food booth with Nachos as their main product. It’s cool and they’re the first ones who did a Mexican-themed booth. Plus, it looks like they got delicious food as students line up. “I want to eat everything here, but sure, let’s start with that,” I said and confidently walked to the line of students in front of the booth. Well, they’re just starting to line up so there’s not a lot yet for us to wait long. “Why aren’t you with Jeremy and Kenneth?” I could’ve asked this a while ago but I was too busy looking for the perfect food to start eating. “I’m actually looking for them, but since I saw you walking around alone, I’m here now,” Martin answered and I nodded in understanding. When it was our turn, we ordered two large nachos with extra meat on mine. I love meat so much, but I can only eat it sometimes to maintain my “model” figure. My kind of “model” figure is not too slim, not too fat, just right and I make sure to maintain my beautiful curve. Forget about that now, because today is going to be my cheat day, so I can eat how much I want to satisfy my hunger and my cravings. We ate our nachos at one of the tables in front of the booth and it certainly is the taste that I’ve been waiting for since the moment I woke up. The meat is so tasty and it blends well with the vegetables and together with the sauce? Chef’s kiss. I’m definitely going back here later. “There you are! I’ve been looking for you!” Trisha suddenly appeared as I took the last bite of these fantastic nachos. I looked at her with a confused expression when, suddenly, she grabbed my hand without another word and pulled me away from a shocked and confused Martin. “Where are you taking me?” I asked with a bit of annoyance in my tone. I still want to indulge in the aftermath of my nachos and this girl is suddenly pulling me to wherever she’s leading me to. After a few more turns and a few more bumping with other students who were walking peacefully, we arrived at our booth and I saw Kenneth and Jeremy arrive at the same time as us. “And they’re here!” Trisha excitedly said. Okay? “Perfect!” Jessica exclaimed and grabbed handcuffs from behind our booth. She then started to handcuff Kenneth’s left hand and is now reaching for my right hand. “What are you doing?” I sternly asked as I tried to yank my hand from her grip. “Handcuffing you? Because according to our mechanics, we can also write two people we want to do this handcuff thing and it turns out that I proudly wrote your name and Kenneth’s” Jessica explained in a sassy tone. “Just to make it clear, I don’t want to be handcuffed to you,” Kenneth said, raising his right palm. “Then why aren’t you stopping them?!” I retorted in annoyance. Is this what I get for eating my precious nachos? Stress? “Because Jeremy promised to set me up on a date with Sabrina if I agree to do this,” IS HE SERIOUSLY DOING THIS JUST TO GET A DATE WITH SABRINA? THAT’S IT. “F*ck you,” I said with an annoyed look. They all gasped because of what I said and this jerk even put his hand on his chest as if he was hurt. “That’s harsh. FINE. Who would even want to be handcuffed to you?” as my blood was about to reach its boiling point and punch this guy, I heard a clicking sound which made me look at my hand that is now handcuffed. To this annoying flirty guy. “Too late,” Jessica said and blew a kiss at me. I looked at her in disbelief as she wrote on the logbook for our booth. “The time is 9:30 am so you will be done by 10:30 am,” and that made my eyes bigger. “TRISHA SAID THAT IT’S GOING TO BE 5 TO 30 MINUTES AND OURS IS 1 HOUR,” I argued. “Our dearest Claire and Trisha changed it and now it depends on the person who wrote the names of the two people, so, yeah. I want you guys handcuffed in 1 hour,” she explained with a sweet smile at the end. Look, Jessica is my best friend, okay? But she can be annoying at times like this. “Oh, well. I don’t care anymore. I’m hungry now, so let’s go,” Kenneth pulled, which made me almost trip. Now what? I won’t be able to enjoy my food. This is going to be the longest hour of my life. == AFTER 30 MINUTES == “Can’t you just personally ask Sabrina to go out with you?” I asked in an exhausted tone after spending 30 minutes with Kenneth. You wanna know what we did? We ate different kinds of food and he lets me eat more since he knows that today’s my cheat day. We also went to those boring booths I mentioned earlier and he’s the only one who enjoyed them. “Honestly, I already did earlier and she rejected me, like, why? Why did she reject me? No one does that to me because they’re lucky if I ask them out,” Kenneth said as if it was the biggest problem in his life. “Then why are we doing this?” I frustratingly asked him. “Because we need to do this. There’s not a day that you’ll talk to me for more than 10 minutes. After that, you’ll walk out, or sometimes you’ll suddenly hit me,” and now he’s complaining. Wow. “It’s satisfying to hit you,” I mumbled. “And it’s satisfying to annoy you, but can’t we just talk normally? Like even once?” he suggested. “I think we talk normally,” I said as I looked around. We’re currently at the school’s field sitting on a bench. This is our usual spot. Well, we don’t really come here at the same time. Sometimes I sit here and read a book or listen to music and when it’s Kenneth, he hangs out with one of his girls. He’s a playboy, but a clumsy one. After moving on from one girl, he already likes a new one and most of them are pretty skinny girls and those who are flat-chested. I’m not judging them. I just find it amusing that most girls that Kenneth likes are flat-chested. “I mean normal, with no yelling, no swearing, and no hitting,” he said as if he’s scolding a kid. If I think about it, we’re not like any other childhood friends who treat each other in a “normal” way. We’re more on the chaotic side. “Fine. We’ll spend the remaining time acting like we used to. Like the children we were before who were having so much fun,” I calmly agreed to what he wanted. I think we just need to refresh our memory of how we used to hang out in our childhood. As our agreement, we talked about random topics we could think of, such as our favorite Marvel movie (we’re both Marvel fans), what we want to do in college, and just about anything. We also enjoyed other booths and spent our last minute in the photo booth. It’s actually not bad. In fact, I really enjoyed it and now I remember how much Kenneth can make me laugh. As I’ve said before, he may be annoying, but I still love our friendship. END OF CHAPTER 2
