(Special Chapter Part 1)
JESSICA'S POV
"Jess, your boyfriend's here!" my mom yelled from downstairs as I finished my makeup. Yeah, boyfriend, that's funny. I'm wearing my usual casual look that consists of a mini skirt and any top that I want to wear. I wore my shoes and went downstairs to leave with my boyfriend. "Don't be out 'til late night," mom reminded me as she tried cooking whatever she calls it. She doesn't know how to cook, and she shouldn't be trying to because she might ruin the kitchen. Right now, what she's cooking looks strange and inedible.
"Mom, I'm 18, in case you forgot. I can handle myself, okay? Don't worry," I assured her, and bid her goodbye. I went outside the house, and standing by the passenger's side was him. "Hey, playboy," I greeted him as I walked to his car. He opened the car door for me, and I entered his car. "I told you to stop calling me that," he pouted, and I stuck out my tongue at him. He walked around his vehicle and entered the driver's seat.
"Are you sure we won't see anyone from school?" he asked, and for the nth time, I replied, "I already told you. Yes, no one from the school will see us," he nodded and started the engine. We drove out of our house and are currently on the way to an amusement park a bit far from the city.
I know you're wondering who this mystery guy is. If you guessed Jeremy, unfortunately, you're right. We are in a secret relationship and have been going on sneaky dates to places away from the city. Even our friends don't know it yet because we're planning on telling them if this works out. "You truly don't think anyone from school will go there?" he asked for the nth time while focusing on the road. "Should I get off now? You can pull over now," I sassily answered, and tried opening the car door, but he used his one hand to stop me.
"Come on. I was only kidding. I won't worry now, okay? We're going to have lots of fun or maybe a different kind of fun at the end of the day," he turned to me and winked. I smiled at him and smacked his arm. "Don't try to do anything," I warned him, and I turned on the radio to listen to some music on the car ride.
While we're still on the way, I have a story to tell. Once upon a time, it was a great afternoon when the students were practicing hard for their upcoming musical play. When the play director told everyone to take a break, a girl and a boy sneaked out of the classroom and went inside a nearby janitor's closet. The girl and the boy started to have a make-out session in the janitor's closet, the end.
The girl and boy who had a make-out session turned out to be Jeremy and me. It was Jeremy's fault that he couldn't take it. He said he wanted to kiss me, and I foolishly allowed him, so now we're dating. A beautiful love story, right? The party girl and the playboy are in a secret relationship.
I think Rachel might be suspicious of us now, but I'm sure she'll forget about it if she's distracted. I heard she and Martin are at the mall right now, so she's probably not thinking about us. After what felt like forever, we arrived at this exciting amusement park. Jeremy parked the car, and we both went out after I fixed my makeup. I have to make sure my makeup doesn't look messy, so I always find time to fix it.
"Two tickets, please," Jeremy said and paid for them. They also gave us a map of the amusement park that highlights the popular rides here. "We should definitely ride the rollercoaster," Jeremy said as we looked for thrilling rides on the map. "We shouldn't miss it. We are riding the rollercoaster after 3 or 4 theme park rides," I informed him, and he nodded.
We decided to go for the bumper cars as a warmup since it's the simplest but still an exciting ride for beginners. We chose our cars and heard the timer going off, signaling the start of the game. I kept in mind that I would beat Jeremy by persistently bumping his car no matter what. "I know what you're thinking, and I'm telling you, I won't let you beat me," he challenged, and I smirked at him. "Let's wait and see, playboy," I challenged back and winked at him.
As soon as the timer went off, I drove straight to Jeremy's bumper car, and the impact was a bit strong, unexpectedly, making my head spin. "Are you okay?! Why would you bump so hard?!" Jeremy yelled worriedly. I blinked a few times and nodded at him, "I'm fine. I just wanted to beat you," I answered, and he laughed. "Better chase me then," he said and drove away from me. "Oh, it's on!" I exclaimed and went after him. We were driving in circles, occasionally bumping into each other at every opportunity. We were competitive, but we kept laughing while chasing each other.
The timer went off again, signaling that it was time. We got off the bumper car and hugged each other while chuckling. "That was fun, although it was only our first ride," Jeremy said, and I nodded. "Let's go to our second ride then. Wanna go to the go-kart track?" I asked Jeremy while wiggling my eyebrows. "Let's go drive some go-karts," Jeremy answered, and we both walked to the track while holding hands.
The line wasn't long, so we only waited a few minutes to choose our karts. "Whoever loses will have to pay for lunch," I suggested while the staff put on our safety gear. "Deal," Jeremy said, and we were ready to ride our karts. I thought we were starting, but the staff gave us a few reminders when driving on the track.
After all that, we finally got on karts and sped as soon as the lights turned green. I tried catching up to Jeremy because he was ahead of me, and I didn't want to pay for lunch, okay? "Hey, playboy!" I yelled over the noise of kart engines. "I told you to stop calling me playboy!" he yelled back, and I stepped on the pedal harder to catch up to him. "You can pay for lunch, right? You're richer than me," I winked at him, and he scoffed. "A deal is a deal, party animal," he winked back, and my mouth fell open because of what he called me.
"Party animal?! That's it!" I yelled, and we raced more seriously. I think other go-kart riders were confused about why the two of us were driving very fast as if we were in a real kart race. Don't worry, people. We're doing the same thing here.
== AFTER A FEW ROUNDS ==
"That was unfair," Jeremy sulked, and I pouted at him to tease him about his loss. We were nose to nose, so I had to distract him. "Oh, don't be sulky, playboy. That was just a game. Besides, paying for lunch is not the worst punishment. Or do you want me to make it worse for you?" I sweetly told him while he looked at me with a sad face. "Do you want churros?" he asked, and I pinched his cheeks before walking away.
Before eating churros, we went to eat burgers, and I swear that was the best burger I've ever eaten. Rachel is going to love this burger too. Why is it the best? The burger was perfect because it was stuffy inside with two patties and the usual veggies in a burger. Plus, the patties were a chef's kiss. We are definitely going back here with the whole g**g. "The guys will love this," Jeremy said as he took a sip from his coke. "I was thinking the same! We should come back here on Spring break," I replied, and he nodded.
We were enjoying our burgers when I suddenly saw a familiar face. "Is that Trisha?" I asked Jeremy with a slight panic in my voice. He was startled and looked at where I was looking. "Why is she here?" he whispered-yelled. "I don't know!" I answered, and we turned around so Trisha wouldn't recognize us. "Do you think she saw us?" Jeremy asked and took a long sip of his coke. "No, I don't think she saw us. She's with her family, and she was busy talking to her brother," I answered, and took another bite of my burger.
"I don't understand why we're keeping this relationship a secret. We could at least tell our friends," Jeremy said, and I turned to him. "We will tell them if we can make this work," I responded. "What do you mean? We're working out. Nothing's wrong," Jeremy said, and I sighed. "It's you and your habits. You go to your club and make out with any girl you see," I replied sternly. "I'm not doing it anymore, and besides, you're also going to parties every night," Jeremy retorted. "Oh, come on. Ever since we practiced for the musical play, I stopped going to parties. I only had late-night talks with Rachel and Claire," I snapped, and he sighed.
"Let's not fight over this, okay? I will stop doing it, I promise. We will make this work, and we will tell our friends when the time comes," Jeremy calmed me down, and I nodded. "Yeah, we can do that. A playboy and a party girl can fall in love like other people," I said, and he nodded. He put his arm around my shoulder and kissed my forehead. "I feel bad that the burger had to witness that," I commented, and we laughed.
For the rest of our date, we went on more rides. After riding the rollercoaster, my stomach ached from laughing so hard because Jeremy ran to the nearest trash bin and threw up. He will never hear the end of it from me. Lastly, we went on a Ferris wheel to give our date a romantic ending. I rested my head on Jeremy's shoulders, and honestly, I felt safe in his warmth. I had my worries when he asked me out, but as we promised, we will make this relationship work.
