Scott had to physically pull Avi away from Kirstie, his instincts arguing with him relentlessly. To distract himself, Avi offered to drive. Mitch sat on Scott's lap, and hugged him as tight as he could. Rather than assessing Scott's injuries visually, he closed his eyes to feel each individual injury as it surged through his veins. The others in the car were so tired, that no one said a word for almost ten minutes. Finally Travis turned in his seat beside Avi, to look behind Avi's seat. "Alex... Are you okay?" Alex took a deep breath, and after some consideration, he smiled and nodded. "Yes, Sir. Thank you." Travis gave him a quick once over, hoping not to make him uncomfortable. "Your arm looks swollen. Does it hurt?" Alex looked down, as if he hadn't noticed it. "Not really... It's a little numb." Avi glanced over at Travis. "I saw you get hurt too... Was it your shoulder, or..?" Scott scoffed at them. "Good luck with that." Travis disregarded him, and poked his shoulder a little bit. "I think it's the rotator cuff, or whatever it's called. Probably torn. It's not a huge deal." Alex frowned at him. "I'm sorry, Alpha. I'm sure that hurts a lot..." Avi had already moved on, briefly glancing at Scott in the rear view mirror. "I'm almost afraid to ask, Rookie..." Scott didn't look at him. "I can't feel anything... I'm not totally sure what's broken and what isn't. Give me a few more minutes to let the adrenaline calm down." Avi just moved on again. "Mitchell, talk to me." Mitch kept his eyes closed. "I think a few of his fingers are broken. He has a really bad cut on his forehead. He's going to be really sore tomorrow, because his muscles aren't happy. Also he might have a few hurt ribs."
"Thank you. Alexander?" Alex was scanning his own body, as he wasn't totally sure either. "I.. I'm sorry, Sir... I'm not... I don't know. I feel okay, so. Hopefully nothing horrible." Travis turned in his seat again. "Okay... Not that I'm not grateful for you.. But God, Alex... What were you thinking? Running into the middle of a huge fight like that." Alex's posture sagged a little. "I'm sorry, Alpha... I just wanted to help... Mitchie always told me to stand up for myself, and... I saw that you guys needed help, and I figured... As much time I've spent exercising, why not put it to use?" Mitch opened his eyes, just to smile at his fellow Omega. "That was really brave of you, babe." Alex grinned at him. "You think so?" "I really, really do." Travis shook his head slowly. "As much as I agree... Alex, that was very irresponsible. Your strength is incomparable to that of an Alpha. You could've been killed." He held up a hand. "Though, you obviously weren't, so thank you. That's all I'm saying." Avi glanced over at Travis once, and then back to the road. "How weird... You just said everything I usually say. I feel a lot better now." Alex giggled at him, and turned to smile at Mitch, who was still unmoving on Scott's lap. "Mitchie?" Mitch peeked up at him, and then closed his eyes again, tucking his head back into Scott's neck. "What?" "Are you okay?" "Of course I am. I'm not the one who took on a group of Alphas today." "But you were still involved, kind of..." Mitch opened his eyes again, knowing Alex wasn't going to drop it until he knew Mitch was happy. "Allie, I promise that I'm okay." Alex grinned widely, and nodded. "Good. I'm really happy to hear that." Mitch kept one arm wrapped around Scott's waist, and reached the other toward Alex. Alex only hesitated for a second, and then gently grabbed Mitch's hand with a smile. "Are you okay, Allie? I mean... Really?" "I am." Mitch opened his eyes again suddenly, and frowned. "Now that I think about it... Did Jake even speak to you before we left? I don't think he bothered to even ask if you were okay." "I don't know. I understand that he was busy with Kirstie... I wasn't his first concern at the time, that's all." Mitch rolled his eyes and looked out toward the front of the car. "How rude." Avi turned into the urgent care, and parked the car, before turning to look at everyone behind him. "You guys aren't hurt bad enough that you can't walk, right?" Scott met his eyes. "You were the one limping, Alpha." Alex opened his door, and then tried to meet Avi's eyes as well. "Do you need help?"
"No, Alexander. I'm fine." Mitch got out of the car, holding his hand out for Scott. Scott ignored it as he stepped out, but grabbed it afterwards to briefly kiss Mitch's knuckles. Alex got out of the car, closed the door, and then stepped forward to stand beside Avi. "Are you sure, Alpha? I can just carry--" "I said no, Alexander." "But what if walking on it makes it worse? What if--?"
"Alexander Kirk, don't you dare backtalk me." Avi snapped, his injuries mixed with his Omega's Heat fogging his mind just enough to make him more irritable than necessary. Alex looked down at his feet immediately, arms coming up to hide his stomach. "I'm sorry, Alpha. I didn't mean to overstep my--" Scott interrupted him, by picking Avi up and throwing him over his shoulder. "Alright ladies, let's go." Avi grabbed Scott's shirt and held it tightly in his hands. "Scott Richard-- Put me down!" "You're hurt. Shut up." Scott snapped at him, but he gave Travis a wink when he walked by. Mitch giggled at his attitude, and then followed them into the building, Alex walking in right beside him. Travis went to the desk to explain their injuries to the woman working there, as the others followed him. Avi finally smacked Scott as hard as he could, knowing he'd leave some kind of mark on Scott's back. "Scott Richard Grassi-Hoying if you do not put me back on my feet, so help me God--" Scott abruptly shifted Avi around, moving him from his shoulder, down into his arms so he could smile at Avi.
Avi squinted at him. "I'm being serious. Put me down." "You're hurt, silly. It's not a big deal." Mitch giggled all of a sudden, Alex's arm over his shoulders as Alex made a quick joke. Mitch leaned into him a little and nodded. "But all of the rude ones would have to be small." "Small? Like short, or like..?" Mitch was quiet for a second, and then he started laughing again. "How would I know that? I have the nicest one ever, and he's definitely not small. In either way you'd like to interpret that word."
Alex giggled at him, and glanced up at Scott, hoping he hadn't heard them. "We should do a survey." "You want to walk around asking Alphas how big they are? Be my guest. Just know that at least 90% of them are going to lie." "Oh, shoot... You're right." Mitch giggled again, reaching up to hold Alex's hand as it hung down slightly across Mitch's chest. Alex grinned at him. "You have such a cute laugh! Even when I went away with Travis, I know your laugh is something I never forgot." "Thank you." Mitch responded with a smile, looking up to meet Alex's eyes. "And I also really love your dimples." Alex reached forward with his free hand to poke Mitch's cheek. "So cute." Mitch giggled again, a blush spreading across his cheeks at all the positive attention. "You're so sweet. Stop that." Alex smiled widely again, and removed his hand from Mitch's face. "Okay. Sorry." Mitch was quiet for a moment, and then he smiled again. "Wait, I take it back. Keep complimenting me." *********
Kevin and Todrick were now sat beside each other on the couch, something irrelevant playing on the television in front of them. Todrick was caught staring at his new ring, Kevin watching him amusedly. Finally he spoke up. "Tod..?" "Hmm?" "Is it everything you thought it would be?" Todrick looked up, and smiled the moment he met Kevin's eyes. "Of course it is." Kevin still seemed uncertain, so Todrick reached up to hold Kevin's face with both of his hands. "You of all people know that it's more than just the ring." "I do... I just... I'm sorry I picked such a horrible day to do this..." "As if you had any control over what those Alphas were thinking." "Regardless. I just wanted it to be perfect, and... It wasn't." Todrick let out a small laugh, shaking his head at Kevin, and instead dropping his hands to hold Kevin's. "Okay, let me try again. It's more than just the ring. It's more than just the proposal. It's more than anything as subjective and/or objective as those things. This is about love, and it's hold on the two of us. And that is all." ********
