Kevin nodded slowly. "Love." He repeated, for his own understanding. "I know that, Tod. Believe me, I do. I'm just... I don't think I'm capable of giving you everything you deserve. But I selfishly want you to be my husband, regardless." "You're impossible." Todrick chuckled again. "Let me try, once more." He sat up, and moved to be on top of Kevin's thighs, his hands finding Kevin's once again, their eyes locked. "Is this okay?" Kevin squinted at him, looking for some kind of figurative language, though he found none. "Yes." "Betas are the least susceptible to understanding the concept of love. In fact, we struggle with understanding the concept of not understanding the concept of love. Are you with me so far?" "No. But continue." "That's why you were afraid of it, when I first met you. Because it was one of the only things you couldn't wrap your head around. So it terrified you. But as a Beta that has witnessed an Omega fall in and out of love, before falling back in... Let me tell you; it's not something you can understand, because it's something you have to feel." "I don't understand where you're going with this." Kevin replied honestly. "Stop trying to put a definition to it. You're thinking too much. I don't have to understand love, to know that I am utterly, without a single doubt, in love with you." Kevin stared at him, his invitation to continue.
Todrick smiled at him. "Love is not perfect. It's about compromise. It's about... Being happy. And that isn't something you can research, or understand. Scott and Mitch function in a different way than Travis and Alex did. But both couples had love in between them, unconditionally." Kevin took a deep breath to absorb what he was saying, and he nodded again. "I understand." "No you don't. And you're not supposed to. I don't understand it either. Let go of your own understanding, Kevin. It's not enough this time." Kevin was quiet for a second. "You sound like you're trying to make me afraid of it again." "There's an easy solution to that; Are you afraid of me?" "No." "I trust you. Do you trust me?" "Of course." "I'm in love with you. Are you in love with me?" "Yes." Todrick's smile grew, and then he leaned down to kiss him once, pulling away to stare into Kevin's eyes. "That's all we need to know." ********
Avi requested that they all be in one room, and though it was a little crammed, it was manageable.
He'd forced Alex to go first, as the Omega and Alpha laws were still in full swing in Avi's mind. Luckily, Alex didn't seem to have many injuries, as he'd joined later in the fight, and was very good at defending himself since he'd had practice with past Alphas. Alex had just sat on the small bed, while the nurse wrapped up his arm, from elbow to wrist, concerned about how much bruising she'd seen. He was then told to wait for another nurse to come by, and take him for an x-ray. Scott already had a nurse working on him, because he'd had blood running down his face from the moment he stepped into the building. Alex's nurse moved down to work on Travis, who'd been sitting right beside the tall Omega, immediately finding that he'd jammed a few of his fingers. She frowned at him. "I'm sorry, Alpha. I can fix that if you'd like. I know it's quite irritating." Travis just shrugged and reached his other hand down to un-jam them, simply yanking on each finger. Alex immediately grabbed Travis' hands with both of his own. "Oh my God! Don't do that!" Travis stared at him for a second. "It's... A quick fix. It's not like I'm making them worse."
"But the noises it's making..." Alex pulled his hands away all of a sudden, realizing what he'd done. "O-Oh... Alpha, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to boss you around. You can do whatever you want with your own body, of course. I'm sorry, Sir." "It's fine, Le-- Alex. Alex, it's not a problem." Alex looked down at his own hands in shame, embarrassed for acting wrongly in front of so many people. The nurse waited patiently for their decision, but Travis briefly ignored her. He leaned over to catch Alex's eye. "Hey, look at me. I'm not mad. You're forgiven." "Thank you, Sir." He responded quietly. Alex then stood from the hospital bed, and walked over to Avi. "Sir, may I use the restroom?" Avi didn't answer, but stood to accompany him. Travis frowned at them as they left, and then turned back to the nurse. "You should probably do it... If it's not too much trouble." Mitch glanced over at him, and then back to Scott. "I feel bad..." Scott's right eye was closed, because the male nurse in front of him was gently trying to get the blood off of that side of his face. "Why? Are you okay? Does your stomach hurt?" "I'm fine. But..." He moved impossibly closer to Scott to whisper. "I feel bad for Travis." "Why?" "He's... Not as horrible as I thought he was." "Well, he made a mistake, honey. We all make bad choices sometimes. We're just given different opportunities." Mitch glanced back at Travis again, as he seemed to be answering questions that the nurse was throwing at him. Travis suddenly turned to him, and smiled. "Hey, Scott?" Scott glanced over. "Hmm?" "I have to take my shirt off so the nurse can see my shoulder. Is that okay?" Scott hesitated a moment. "Um... Why wouldn't that be okay? It's not like you're unattractive." He sat up suddenly. "Is that a weird thing to say? Sorry..." Travis chuckled a little at how awkward he was. "Well... Thank you. But I just meant... Your Omega." "What about him? He's a big fan of shirtless Alphas." Scott teased, causing Mitch to pout at him and hit his chest lightly. Travis tried again. "No, I just... Didn't want either of you to be uncomfortable." Mitch turned and smiled at him. "We don't mind. Thank you for asking, though." Alex was about two seconds from walking back into the room, oblivious to the situation, when Avi snagged his wrist and tugged him back a little. Alex hissed in pain, as Avi had accidently grabbed his hurt arm, but didn't pull his arm away. Avi flinched away quickly, apologetically. "Oop-- Sorry, kid. That was an accident, I promise." Alex just nodded slowly, pulling his hurt arm into his chest and holding it gently with his other hand. "Okay... Did you need something, Sir..?"
"I just wanted to ask you a few things. One, are you absolutely sure about moving in with Travis? Two, I can't believe you fought a bunch of Alphas. Are you okay?" "Yes, Sir. I'm sure about Travis. And yes, Sir. I'm perfectly fine. Well... I mean.. I'll be fine after the x-ray." He looked at his arm and smiled. "I wish Toddy was here to tell me what was wrong, rather than going through all the trouble." Avi smiled a little. "Yeah, those Betas are pretty convenient, huh?" He chuckled a little, and then caught Alex's eyes again. "And if anything happens with Travis... You know where to find us." "Yes, Sir." Avi nodded once, and then gestured to the door. Alex opened it, and held it for him with a smile. Avi walked in, to see Scott and Mitch chatting with the male nurse and Travis standing up with his shirt off so the nurse could walk around him and estimate the damage. Alex saw Travis and immediately averted his eyes, suddenly wishing Jake was there. The male nurse turned to help Avi, which encouraged Alex to walk over to Mitch. He didn't even care if he was the third wheel, he just wanted something to distract himself from how uncomfortable he was. Scott looked up at him, his face now held together with medical tape on a small spot of his forehead, and a scratch across his upper cheek. "How are you doing, Xander?" "I'm doing well, Sir. Thank you." Mitch tilted his head a little, and then frowned. "Nuh uh. I know that voice. Something is wrong." "No, nothing is wrong, I just... I'm really confused... It makes me uncomfortable when things aren't going the way they're supposed to. And... Today's been full of surprises." "I get that. I totally get that. I'm sorry you're upset... Anything we can do?" "No, but... Thank you for listening to me." A nurse walked in suddenly, clipboard in hand. "I'm looking for an arm injury that needs an x-ray?" The nurse in front of Travis turned and gestured toward Alex. "His name is Alexander. Omega." "Okay." She waved Alex over. "Come on, then. Bring your Alpha." Alex frowned. "He's not here right now..." Scott looked over at Avi, who was in the middle of getting his ankle wrapped, and then he stood slowly. "I'll go with you." Mitch frowned at him, reaching forward to grab Scott's arm. "But..." "Mitchie, I'll be right back, I promise." Scott replied dismissively, not wanting Alex to walk out without him. Mitch watched them leave, and frowned. Travis gave him a small smile, and patted a spot on the bed beside him. Mitch stood up reluctantly, and walked over to sit next to him. "Aren't you worried about him?" "Of course I am. But he's moved on, and I need to respect that. So... I'll pretend not to care. For him."
