Yuri proceeded to take his guest all over the factory. They began at the loading docks where the deliveries of iron ore and other raw materials stood stacked in large piles. Stephen watched the surprisingly old men lift the loads of metals over and over with their bare hands. It appeared to be backbreaking work, and some of the workers did not appear to be in very good health. Next, they went to the smelting area to watch the metals being processed and melted down. The temperature, Stephen observed, had to be over one hundred degrees at several locations on the smelting area floor.
