☆☆☆☆☆☆☆REVELATIONS☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Gulf pinched Mew's chest gently before leaning down to press a soft kiss against it. The touch was tender, almost affectionate enough to make Mew forget everything else around them. Mew smiled and tightened his arms around Gulf, closing his eyes as he allowed himself to simply enjoy the warmth of the moment.
For a while, neither of them said anything.
They stayed wrapped around each other, tangled comfortably beneath the sheets, as though the rest of the world could wait.
Unfortunately, the world had other plans.
Gulf's phone suddenly rang from somewhere near the edge of the bed.
He ignored it at first.
The ringing continued.
Gulf groaned in annoyance and buried his face against Mew's shoulder.
"Ignore it," he muttered.
Mew laughed softly. "What if it's important?"
"It's not."
The phone rang again.
Mew reached for it, but Gulf immediately grabbed the device from his hand and glared at him.
"Don't."
Mew only laughed harder.
Gulf narrowed his eyes before finally answering the call.
"This better be important, or I'm throwing this phone out," he mumbled.
"Hello?"
They had been cuddling in Mew's bed. Yes, Mew's bed.
Gulf had sneaked into his room the previous night, and neither of them had exactly been interested in sleeping early. After two weeks of finally reconciling their feelings, they had been making up for lost time in every possible way. Gulf couldn't remember the last time he had felt this happy.
Mew had changed him.
He really had.
Two weeks ago, Gulf had still been trying to convince himself that he could live without Mew. Now, the thought of being separated from him for even a day felt unbearable.
"What?" Gulf answered irritably.
There was a brief silence on the other end.
Then—
"Ehhhh! Why are you so grumpy?"
Gulf rolled his eyes.
He immediately recognized the voice.
Mil.
His good-for-nothing friend.
"Spell the beans, idiot."
Mil chuckled before clearing his throat.
"Fine. Just to remind you, today is our exam."
Gulf froze.
"And..."
Mil deliberately paused.
"You only have twenty-five minutes before our instructor starts the exam. Thank me later."
"f**k!"
Gulf immediately sat up.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"I did send you messages last night. I even called you, but you didn't answer."
Gulf glanced at his phone.
There were several missed calls.
"Fine. I'll call you later."
He ended the call and immediately started looking for his clothes.
He barely noticed Mew watching him with an amused expression.
Then he heard a whistle.
Gulf turned around.
Mew was still sitting on the bed, looking far too pleased with himself. Mew whistled and smirked at him. He even motioned Gulf to lie down and make love again.
But, as much as Gulf wanted to. He can't, he'll be dead to his professors if he won't show up.
Gulf lifted his middle finger and threw a pillow at him. And uttered under his breath while rolling his eyes. "Maniac."
Mew caught the pillow and laughed.
"You look cute when you're angry."
Instead of answerin, Mew. He just command him to get dressed. "Get dressed."
"Yes, sir." Mew then agreed without a blink.
Gulf grabbed two towels and tossed one toward Mew.
"We need to hurry. Use the other bathroom."
Mew caught the towel and raised an eyebrow.
"Hmm... We could shower together. We'd save water, you know."
Gulf stopped.
He stared at Mew.
For several seconds, he looked as though he were seriously considering the offer.
A small smile slowly appeared on his lips.
"Yes, we can..."
Mew's eyes brightened. Ready to get up when he noticed Gulf paused.
"...but not today." Gulf continued..
Before Mew could respond, Gulf quickly jumped out of bed and grabbed his towel.
"Let's go."
Mew stared at him in disbelief. "Seriously?"
Gulf simply smiled.
Mew pouted like a child. "You are cruel."
Gulf laughed as he walked toward the bathroom.
"You'll survive."
---
Several minutes later, they were already inside Mew's car.
The drive had been mostly quiet.
Too quiet.
Gulf had noticed Mew's silence almost immediately. He know that his man is still sulking about earlier.
He sighed.
Now, after parking near his destination, Gulf unfastened his seatbelt and reached for his small backpack in the back seat.
"You still sulking?" He asked the most obvious question just to have Mew’s attention.
Mew didn't answer.
Gulf glanced at him. His words were like air to Mew.
Nothing. No response at all.
Mew was just staring outside the window.
Gulf sighed again.
He had been noticing the silence for several minutes, and he already knew exactly what had caused it. Really did.
He shook his head.
"Hey. Come on. Speak up. I'm going to be late."
Still nothing.
Gulf lightly poked his arm.
"Mew."
Silence.
"I'm sorry." He surrendered and lowered his pride. Gulf knew it was also his fault. He teased him and leave him hanging.
Mew continued looking outside.
Gulf checked his watch.
Three minutes late.
He wanted to leave, but he couldn't simply walk away while his partner was still upset with him.
It was new to him.
This feeling of having someone whose silence could bother him more than anything else.
And strangely enough, he loved it.
He sighed before leaning closer and giving Mew a quick kiss.
"I'm sorry. Stop sulking, okay?" Gulf's voice was very soft.
Mew finally looked at him. He got carried away with Gulf's sweet and tender voice.
He cleared his throat and nodded. "Go. You're late."
Gulf shook his head. "I'm not leaving like this."
Gulf knew Mew is still not okay. Mew just sighed.
Gulf continued, "I don't like leaving things unresolved. If you're upset with me, tell me."
Mew looked at him for a long moment. Then his expression softened.
"You're really serious about that, aren't you?" He asked.
"Yes." Gulf replied, still looking at him sincerely.
Mew finally melted. He smiled faintly. "I'm sorry too."
He leaned over and kissed Gulf's forehead.
"I'm no longer sulking. We're good." He added.
Gulf smiled. "Good."
He kissed Mew's lips again. "So you just wanted affection."
Gulf teased him while their lips are still connected.
Mew smiled and lick Gulf's heart-shaped lips. "Maybe."
Gulf rolled his eyes, grabbed his bag, and opened the car door.
"Take care." Gulf said as he took his exit outside the car.
"Good luck with your exam." Mew cheered him and blow a kiss.
Gulf just rolled his eyes one more time, but still catch Mew's kiss on the air. He then closed the door after their childish lovey-dovey.
Mew watched him walk away, smiling as he disappeared toward the building.
---
“Where have you been for the past two weeks? You’re always gone. Your secretary is the only person I ever get to talk to.”
Mew chuckled and glanced sideways at his friend.
His friend had been asking him questions for quite some time now, one after another, without giving him a chance to breathe. But Mew had answered none of them. He knew his friend was already getting annoyed with him, especially because all Mew had been doing was smiling.
“Great answer,” his friend said sarcastically. “I completely understand. Your answer is so clear! Wow!”
Mew burst out laughing at his friend’s exaggerated expression. He continued laughing until he noticed that the man had gone completely silent.
His friend was staring at him with a poker face.
Mew immediately stopped.
He knew that look.
His friend was pissed.
“All right. I’m sorry,” Mew said with another small chuckle. “I didn’t have much work to do, so I left early.”
He said it casually, tilting his head as if his explanation were the most normal thing in the world.
“Talk to my hand.”
His friend raised his palm directly in front of Mew’s face.
“If I know you, you’ve been keeping someone in your house, you bastard!”
Mew raised an eyebrow.
“You already knew? Then why did you ask?”
His friend’s eyes widened.
He immediately walked toward Mew and sat on the edge of his desk before grabbing both of Mew’s shoulders.
“Seriously? You’re not kidding? Who? Who? Who? Who the heck is she?”
Mew simply chuckled at his reaction.
His friend looked like an excited child who had just discovered a secret.
Before Mew could answer, however, the office door suddenly opened.
Both of them turned toward it.
Gulf was standing there.
One eyebrow was raised, and his expression was enough to make the entire room feel colder.
He looked like he was one second away from ripping someone’s head off.
Mew immediately tried to remove his friend’s hands from his shoulders.
Their position did not look good at all.
Unfortunately, his friend’s grip was as hard as stone.
“Kao,” Mew hissed, trying to pull his arm away.
Kao gave him no chance.
And with Gulf standing there, watching them, the situation only became more terrifying.
“Ouch!” Mil groaned as Gulf suddenly elbowed him.
Mil wasn’t actually hurt, but he acted as though he had been attacked. Gulf shook his head and walked toward the two men.
“Mew! What the f**k?”
He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest. Kao groaned and shook his head. Then, as he noticed someone standing behind him, he slowly looked back.
The moment he saw Gulf, he froze.
He stepped backward and pointed at Gulf, his mouth hanging open. His expression looked as if he had just seen a ghost.
“M-M-Mew!”
He called Mew’s name without taking his eyes off Gulf. Mew was looking at him with the same shocked and confused expression.
“Yes?” Mew answered simply, tapping his friend’s shoulder.
Kao released a long breath and finally looked at Mew. He was one hell of a confused man. He shook his head and forced an awkward smile.
“You’re joking, right?”
He chuckled nervously and glanced at Gulf. Mew sighed and sat down in his chair.
“No. I know. I’m sorry, but I can’t.”
He looked down and picked up his pen, turning it between his fingers.
“s**t!”
Kao hissed and stood up.
He placed his hands on his waist and faced his friend, who was sitting there with his head lowered. He didn’t even seem to care about Gulf’s presence anymore.
“Are you even serious?”
He laughed bitterly. Mew slowly raised his head and nodded confidently.
Looking at his friend, Kao looked like a disappointed father who had just heard that his son had made the worst decision of his life.
“Yes, I am.”
Mew answered him directly. There was no point in hiding anymore. Eventually, they would find out. And the more people who knew about him and Gulf, the more careful Mew would have to become.
He understood that. He knew there would be consequences.
But for the first time in his life, Mew was tired of letting fear make his decisions for him.
“s**t! s**t! s**t! You know what? Wake up!”
Kao stepped closer and grabbed Mew by the collar.
Mew could clearly see the anger burning in his friend’s eyes.
“I know!” Mew replied, his voice becoming strained. “And I don’t have any more doubts. Not anymore. For once—just once—I’m going to choose what makes me happy.”
Kao stared at him.
Mew stared right back.
There was determination in his eyes. He had already made his choice. Kao finally released his collar.
“Fine. Have it your way.”
He stepped back.
“But when the day comes, don’t tell me I didn’t warn you. Don’t tell me I didn’t try to remind you.”
Mew didn’t answer immediately. He simply stared at his friend.
“I know, Kao. I know.”
Kao nodded harshly and shook his head.
He looked disappointed.
Without saying anything else, he grabbed his coat and turned toward the door. Before he could leave, however, he deliberately bumped his shoulder against Gulf.
Gulf barely moved. He simply stared at him.
Kao walked out without looking back. The moment the door closed, silence filled the office. Gulf remained where he was, his arms crossed. It was obvious from the atmosphere that he had been the topic of their conversation.
He rolled his eyes before settling his gaze on Mew.
Mew suddenly looked tired. More than tired, he looked stressed. He sat back in his swivel chair and rubbed his forehead, closing his eyes.
He barely noticed Gulf standing there.
His head was already aching because of Kao. He had to do something. He had to make a plan. Otherwise, everything could become completely f****d up. The sooner he figured things out, the better.
Mew released a long breath.
After a few seconds, he opened his eyes and smiled at Gulf. It was a tired smile.
“Stop smiling. It’s fake.” Gulf commented.
Mew laughed softly at Gulf’s sarcasm. “I’m sorry.”
He cleared his throat and glanced toward Gulf’s friend. Mil was standing beside the aquarium, waving at the fish and smiling at it. The fish, completely indifferent to the attention, continued swimming around.
Mew grimaced slightly.
His dog had even been barking at the aquarium earlier, but apparently, the fish didn’t care about any of it. Mew shook his head and quietly shushed the puppy when it started making noise again.
The whole scene was ridiculous.
He looked back at Gulf. “So, what brought you here?”
Gulf was about to answer when Mil suddenly came running back toward them. He stopped beside Gulf, grinned, and then glanced at him.
“Food. He said you’re paying. We’re hungry.”
Mil rubbed his stomach dramatically. Mew chuckled and nodded.
“Okay. I’m hungry too. Should we just have something delivered, or do you want to go out?”
“Let’s just go there so we can choose something better—ouch!”
Mew smiled and shook his head. He had seen Gulf elbow his friend. It had been quick, but Mew had caught it.
“Have some shame!”
Gulf hissed.
Mil pouted.
“I’m hungry! There’s no time for shame! Come on, Gulf!”
Gulf was about to elbow him again when Mew cleared his throat.
“Okay. Let’s go.”
“Let’s go!”
Mil shouted excitedly and ran out of the office.
“What a shameless i***t,” Gulf mumbled.
Mew shook his head and laughed quietly. If looks could kill, Mil would probably have been dead by now. Gulf’s stare was sharp enough to cut through steel.
“Let’s go. After you.” Mew motioned toward the door.
Gulf looked at him.
“Why did you agree?” Gulf asked.
Mew smiled and winked at him in the most flirty way. “Because I’m hungry too. And your friend is right. It’s better if he, you, and I go together.”
Mew paused.
“Us. We’ll be there.”
Gulf stared at him for a moment before rolling his eyes. “Whatever.”
He turned around and walked out first. Mew placed his hands on his waist and watched him leave. Then his eyes naturally dropped. His lips curved into a playful smile.
He whistled softly. Gulf had a very nice figure.
Years ago, Mew had considered himself a man of steel. Nothing could easily shake him. He could face difficult situations without flinching.
But Gulf was different.
The moment he had entered Mew’s life, everything had changed. Mew could barely think straight whenever Gulf was near.
“What a nice ass,” he muttered.
“I heard you, i***t!”
Mew chuckled.
Gulf turned around and showed him his middle finger. Mew laughed even harder.
He finally followed him outside.
Gulf was clearly in a bad mood now. And Mew knew what that meant. He had to make it up to him.
Fortunately, Mew didn’t mind. Not when it came to Gulf. Gulf was his treasure now.
His happiness.
His love.
Before Mew could step outside, however, his phone suddenly beeped.
He stopped.
His smile disappeared.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
One message.
Just one.
But it was enough to change his entire mood. His happy expression vanished, replaced by something Gulf had rarely seen from him.
Fear.
For most of his life, Mew had never been afraid of anything. He had always been tough. Fear was something he had learned to ignore.
But now, everything had changed.
The message had brought all of it back. Mew gritted his teeth.
“No. You can’t take him away from me. Not again.”
He whispered the words under his breath and closed his eyes. His hands tightened around his phone. He needed to control his anger. He couldn't let Gulf see this side of him.
Gulf knew him as someone sweet and soft. And Mew was exactly that when it came to him.
But the truth was that Gulf was the only person who could make him feel that way. For everyone else, Mew could still be the cold and strong man they knew.
He took a deep breath.
In.
Out.
Again.
In.
Out.
He repeated it for a couple of minutes until his anger slowly settled. When he finally opened his eyes, he found Gulf staring at him.
Gulf looked concerned. His eyes were fixed on Mew’s face.
“You okay?” Gulf reached to him and touched Mew's forehead.
Mew immediately smiled.
It was fake.
But he had become good at hiding things.
“Yeah. I’m just exhausted from work.”
Gulf studied him for another moment before finally nodding.
“All right.”
Then he turned around. “Let’s go. My animal friend is already playing with the elevator buttons. He’s embarrassing to be with.”
Mew laughed.
He glanced toward the elevator and saw Mil repeatedly pressing the buttons with an innocent grin on his face. Just like that, one minute with Gulf—even one second—was enough to change Mew again.
The anger inside him faded.
The fear became distant.
And his heart filled with warmth.
Only Gulf could do that.
Only Gulf could pull him back from the darkness so easily.
Mew couldn't let anyone take that away from him. He wouldn't. Otherwise, he knew he might lose himself completely.
He looked toward Gulf’s back. “I won’t let him.”
Gulf turned around. “What?”
One eyebrow lifted. Mew froze for a second.
Damn! Why did Gulf have to be this good-looking?
He looked almost godlike under the soft lights of the hallway. "Nothing. Let’s go.”
Gulf nodded. Mew followed him toward the elevator. As he walked, he glanced at Gulf again. There was still a small smile on his lips.
This time, it was genuine.
He didn't know what the future would bring. He didn't know what kind of trouble was coming. He didn't know whether the warning he had just received would become a reality.
But one thing was certain. He had already made his choice. He would not run away. He would not surrender.
And he would not allow anyone to take Gulf away from him.
Not again.
Mew quietly looked at Gulf as the elevator doors opened. Gulf stepped inside, completely unaware of the storm brewing behind Mew’s smile.
Mew followed him.
His fingers curled into a tight fist inside his pocket. Whatever came next, he would face it.
For Gulf.
For their happiness.
For the life he had finally chosen for himself.
And most importantly—
For the man he loved.
Mew lowered his gaze and whispered so quietly that only he could hear it.
“I’ll protect you.”
