The next morning, Muna woke up with a smile plastered across her face.
For once, she hadn't dreamt about the terrifying grey werewolf or the mysterious man who kept calling her his mate.
But that wasn't the only reason she was happy.
She was going to see Raymond again.
Throwing her duvet aside, she slipped her feet into her purple rabbit-ear slippers and hurried into the bathroom to freshen up.
After getting dressed, she joined her younger brother, Nathan, and their aunt and uncle at the dining table.
"Good morning!" she chirped, kissing Nathan's cheek before greeting her aunt and uncle.
"Someone seems unusually happy this morning," Aunt Evelyn remarked with a smile.
"Maybe she had a good dream," Nathan teased.
Muna rolled her eyes and continued eating.
After breakfast, she and Nathan prepared to leave for school.
"Let me drive you both," Aunt Evelyn offered, reaching for her car keys.
"No, Mom. We'll take a taxi," Muna replied.
"Alright, but stay out of trouble."
"We will, Mom!" they chorused before heading out.

After dropping Nathan off at his classroom, Muna hurried to hers, arriving just before Mr. Henry, their mathematics teacher, walked in.
She quickly settled into her seat near the window and greeted her friends with a cheerful wave.
As the lesson began, her eyes wandered around the classroom until they landed on the person she had been hoping to see.
Raymond.
He sat two seats away from her, resting his cheeks against his palms.
Almost as if he sensed her gaze, he lifted his head.
Their eyes met.
Muna's lips curved into a smile. She raised her hand and waved at him.
However, Raymond simply looked away.
Her smile disappeared.
What?
Had he not seen her?
She stared at him for a few seconds, waiting for him to look back, but he didn't.
"Miss Carmichael!"
Muna immediately straightened in her seat.
"Yes, sir?"
"Would you mind telling us the answer to the question on the board?"
She glanced at the board and quickly solved the problem, earning an approving nod from Mr. Henry.
But even after returning her attention to the lesson, she couldn't stop wondering why Raymond had ignored her.

At the Café
"So, what exactly happened between you two yesterday?" Danielle asked, leaning forward.
Muna shrugged. "Nothing much. We introduced ourselves, talked for a little while, and then went our separate ways."
"That's it?" Danielle frowned.
"What else were you expecting?" Sharon asked, taking a bite of her sandwich.
Muna sighed. "I even waved at him this morning, but he completely ignored me."
"Seriously?" Sharon asked.
"Yes! He looked directly at me and then turned away."
"Maybe he wasn't in the mood," Danielle suggested.
"Something is wrong. He approached me first yesterday, so why is he suddenly acting like I don't exist?"
Before either of her friends could respond, a voice interrupted them.
"Hey, heads up, moron!"
Muna raised her head.
Three girls stood behind her table. She immediately recognised the black-haired witch standing in front. She was the same girl who had glared at her the previous afternoon.
"Who the hell are you calling a moron?" Danielle snapped.
"Shut up, slut. Nobody is talking to you," the red-haired vampiress beside the witch spat, briefly revealing her fangs.
Danielle's eyes darkened. She was already preparing to stand when Muna grabbed her wrist.
"Don't," Muna whispered.
She then turned towards the girls.
"What do you want?"
The black-haired witch stepped closer, folding her arms.
"Stay away from Raymond."
Muna blinked. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me. Don't approach him, don't talk to him, and don't even think about getting close to him again."
"And who are you to tell me what to do?"
The witch smirked.
"Someone who has him under my spell. That's why he ignored you this morning. And trust me, he'll continue doing so."
Muna's eyes widened.
So that was what had happened!
The girl turned around, motioning for her companions to follow.
"Let's go, girls."
Danielle watched them leave, her fingers curling into fists.
"How dare she use magic on Raymond?"
"She was the reason he ignored me," Muna muttered.
Sharon followed the girls with her gaze. "And judging by that little performance, she isn't planning to stop anytime soon."
Just then, Raymond walked into the café.
Muna immediately sat upright.
He approached the three girls and took a seat with them without even looking in her direction.
Her heart sank.
"She wasn't lying," Danielle muttered angrily.
"We have to do something," Muna said, striking the table with her palm.
Sharon leaned closer. "After school, we'll follow him. When we find him alone, Danielle can break the spell."
Danielle nodded.
"But we need to be careful. Those girls might be watching him."
"Then we'll make sure they don't catch us," Muna replied.
She wasn't going to let some jealous witch decide who Raymond could or couldn't talk to.

At the Alpha's Mansion
A magnificent mansion, decorated in white and gold, stood on the outskirts of the city.
Inside, a tall man stood before a floor-to-ceiling window, staring at the forest beyond the beautifully landscaped garden.
Jayden.
His black hair fell loosely across his forehead, and his yellow eyes remained fixed on the trees.
His beast was restless.
It had been restless for days, constantly demanding to be released so they could search for their mate.
Jayden clenched his jaw.
He hated it.
He hated the Moon Goddess for binding him to a human, the weakest creature in the supernatural world.
His twin brother, Kayden, had accepted his human mate without much resistance. She was now the Luna of his pack.
But Jayden was different.
He was ruthless, short-tempered, and notoriously unforgiving. Even his warriors knew better than to approach him when he was angry.
The last werewolf who had dared to challenge him had paid with his life.
Jayden had no intention of allowing a human woman to weaken him.
He closed his eyes, remembering the war and the sins of their father that had brought the Moon Goddess's curse upon their family.
When he opened them, they had turned pitch-black before quickly returning to their usual yellow.
[GET HERE. NOW!]
He summoned his Beta through their mind link.
Less than two minutes later, Ryder appeared in the living room.
"Yes, Alpha?"
Jayden didn't bother turning around.
"Get the warriors ready. We're going to search for my mate."
Ryder hesitated.
"Your mate? But, Alpha..."
Jayden slowly turned his head.
"Speak."
"She's human."
A low growl escaped Jayden's throat.
"Did I ask what she was?"
"No, Alpha. I only thought—"
"Whether human or not, she's still my mate. I will not repeat myself twice."
Ryder immediately lowered his head.
"Understood, Alpha."
"Good. Prepare the warriors. I want her found."
Ryder bowed before leaving the room.
Jayden turned back towards the window, his gaze settling on the distant forest.
He would find his mate.
He would bring her into his pack and keep her by his side. But he would never give her his heart.
He only needed to satisfy the beast clawing inside his chest.
His lips curved into a cold smile.
"I'm coming for you, wherever you are."
