Everything’s lost

Mateo's gaze fell upon his desk, his mind consumed by the mysterious woman. He couldn't shake the feeling that his thoughts were wandering into forbidden territory. As he paced, his hand rested on his hip, his eyes drifting towards the door. His office, a serene white sanctuary, usually brought him peace, but today it felt suffocating. With a sense of familiarity, he knew he had never seen the woman before, despite his familiarity with most of his employees. Her face lingered in his thoughts, refusing to be forgotten. Dea's frustration boiled over as she flung her shoe, landing with a soft thud on the makeup box beside her bed. She groaned, feeling grumpy and lethargic, as she peeled off her shirt and ambled to the mirror. Karis was still at work, and Dea couldn't muster the energy to cook. She gazed at her reflection, feeling beautiful, yet her eyes soon drooped, weighed down by memories of the day's events. The scent of his skin, the touch that ignited a fire, the voice that whispered sweet nothings, and those piercing eyes that saw into her very soul, it all came flooding back. "I think I’m going crazy" she groaned her eyes darting around the room with a frustrated sigh, she shed her skirt, revealing her toned physique, clad only in her panties. Her curves were undeniable, and she knew her waistline was her greatest asset - but she tried to push those thoughts away, tired of dwelling on her past. Her anger turned to the secretary, "That incompetent woman! I was only five minutes late, and she has the nerve to tell me I'm too late for the interview? Unbelievable!" Dea's emotions simmered just below the surface, threatening to erupt. "All because of a stranger... I knew I had that last deal in the bag." She let out a defeated groan, her voice trembling with frustration. "Why is luck always against me?" Just then, Karis walked in, her radiant presence a stark contrast to Dea's turmoil. Her fiery red hair was packed up with a pin to it, highlighting her striking features. Her bulky, beautiful eyes, a mesmerizing mix of sea green and blue, sparkled with warmth, and her 5'6" frame stood slightly taller than Dea's 5'5" stature. Karis had always been focused on her studies, earning her the nickname "mean girl" in high school, but Dea knew her friend's tough exterior hid a kind heart. Now, Karis was forging her own path, away from her parents in Chicago, determined to make a name for herself. “Another bad day? Cos I heard that” “I think the universe wants me dead actually, it’s tired of conspiring against me, this time dead for real” she rolls her eyes as she falls on the bed, falling on her face but she bounced seeing that the bed was soft and comfy. Karis walks up to her, patting her back “Everything will work with time Dea, don’t feel so bad besides they’re still other things you could try that starting a job in a dumb sick office with bunch of people who don’t see good with their eyes” Dea looks at her with a pout to her lips, she felt more emotional “ they can’t see good so they obviously let a hot brainer off which is a loss for them darling” she smiles at her Dea felt alittle better now, she knew all she wanted was her friend by her side “But what if it leads me back” “Don’t bring it up Dea, nothing is leading anyone back, okay?” Dea hugs her as she pats her back but it didn’t last long as she drags the clip which held Karis hair, laughing and giggling, while she stood up “Made anything for dinner?” “Nope, and I am sorry, I just came back too” “Don’t worry I got up something while coming back but it’s downstairs ” Dea gave a cheesy smile, as she tickles her besfriend alittle “And I will marry you soon my darling just give me more time” Karis rolls her eyes “Even if you are the last, I will forever be single” They both laugh together and Dea puts on a shirt to go downstairs seeing that Karis was already set “Oh least I forget how was work, give me all the beautiful details” *** Three days later, Dea stepped into a building that left her awestruck. The gray exterior was sleek and sophisticated, exuding an air of refinement and poise. As she gazed up at the structure, her mouth hung open in wonder. She had seen grand houses before, but this one was breathtaking. Now, she understood why Karis had raved about the enigmatic owner, who was rumored to be a recluse, never coming out of his room. The two other maids would often steal glances at him, their fascination evident, but Dea wasn't interested. Her online boyfriend was the only man on her mind, and she was focused on the task at hand acing the all task at hand. Karis had helped her secure the opportunity after one of the maids had left to pursue a career abroad. Dea was determined to prove herself, knowing the head maid was notoriously strict, demanding only the best from her team. Dea's beauty often preceded her, but she never let it distract her from her duties. If there was one thing she knew, it was that she wasn't lazy. However, she did admit to feeling slightly weaker when it came to certain tasks, especially when compared to her driven best friend, Karis. A gentle tap on her back prompted Dea to take jump. The lady in her late 50s which was evident urged her to take a seat close to her at the balcony. "Do you have any experience whatsoever in this job?" Dea's gaze drifted outside, where Karis was giving her a enthusiastic thumbs up, dressed in her uniform and beaming with encouragement. Dea had been instructed to answer yes to this question, but in reality, her experience was limited to four unrelated jobs, with cooking not being one of them. She forced a smile, feeling a pang of guilt for deceiving her friend. The head maid, Mrs. Ilena, turned to look in the direction Dea was staring, but Karis quickly dodged out of sight. "Is there a problem?" Mrs. Ilena asked, her eyes narrowing slightly. Dea shook her head, "No, ma'am...I mean, no, Mrs" She took a deep breath, "To be honest, I don't have experience, but I'm a quick learner." Dea's face betrayed her, revealing her nervousness. “Actually this job was referred to me by my friend, Karis and I know it’s not healthy for friends to be in the same job but I truly need this Ma” “Call me Mrs Ilena” Mrs. Ilena's smile seemed insincere as she stood up to leave. Dea remained seated, feeling a mix of relief and anxiety. Karis rushed over, "How did it go?" "I don't care, I won't be seeing her face again." "Dea, you need this job." Dea insisted she had to leave, “I think I need to go now will catch up with you at home” “Pleaseeeee make dinner, don’t have enough cash on me to get anything” “Ok Mrs” she knew Karis hated it because she hasn’t yet gotten married to her boyfriend who she still haven’t met, she smiles at her but turns with a sad face attempting to break down in tears.
