Chapter 1

CHAPTER 1

Hartley’s POV

First day of class but I’m already tired. Maybe no one will notice if I don’t come in? I just want to sleep!

I was bored walking on the school greenfield because I decided to cut my class for today. I would rather hang out outside the campus while holding my backpack that I just slung over my shoulder than to listen and to watch my Teacher's and Classmates resounding introductions.

I decided to use the backdoor of the Campus where no guard could catch my escape, there I found the place where there were often soccer players playing.

I could feel the fresh air in this place unlike in any other field. This place is surrounded by tall trees to protect the people who want to go to this place. I just smiled when I saw no one here in this field, and I was the only one.

Maybe no one else is here? So, I could spend more time resting.

I sat down next to the trees where it was hidden and no one would disturb me.

I put my bag on my head then I lay down. I just yawned and was immediately visited by drowsiness. But I woke up immediately when I heard voices not far from my place.

“Please, come back to me.” voice of the weeping woman.

“We’re already done.” said a male voice calmly.

“I’m begging please, I love you very much.”

Gosh! What the hell is this drama I hear? Don’t they know that someone is here and they are disturbing my sleep? They are irritating! Seriously, she knelt to beg him to come back? Oh, common!

“No, I won’t stand until you talk to me.” the woman said between her sobbed.

“We’re already done.” The guy repeated his words.

“That was just a mistake. Please talk to me. I still love you, Lance.”

“That’s enough, Keisha.”

I became silent by hearing those familiar names. I looked at their place and was surprised to see them kissing. I never ended their conversation and I quietly left that place.

“I missed you, Hart!” Avianna greeted me immediately. “Hartley, don’t you miss me?” She greeted me again warmly.

I immediately turned my back on her, because I was hungry, and went straight to the Cafeteria.

“You’re mean to me Hartley, didn’t you miss me? You don’t know how I’m having a hard time finding you?” she let out a sigh before speaking. “It’s a good thing that you have a really beautiful and smart friend.”

Here she goes again, complimenting herself. “I like your new school. I didn’t expect you to come here, I’ve been looking and searching for you for a few months.Where did you hide?”

“Who told you I was hiding?” I told her seriously. There was a hint of doubt in her.

“Then where have you been for a few months we can’t find you?”

“On Vacation,” I said trying to convince her.

“Why didn’t you say?” she said softly. I didn’t answer her question.

She immediately called the server and served the same as my order.

“What are you doing here? This is not a Shopping Mall, Avianna,” she just raised an eyebrow at me. “Don’t stare at me like that Avianna.” I added. She put down her spoon and fork. She just looked at me for a long time, I thought she was going to speak. I just gasped and was annoyed at the same time.

“What’s the matter with you, Avianna?” I irritated questioned her.

“You!” there she is again, I sighed a few times before I answered her.

“What is your problem with me?” I asked lazily, playing with my fork while lazily leaning at the chair.

“You still haven’t changed. You’re still annoying, I can stab you with this fork I’m holding. Do you want to?” She said irritably as her eyebrows twitched.

“So, what are you doing here?”

“Just visiting you, don’t you want to? Don’t brag to me, Monreal. You didn’t say goodbye. You even defeated the prisoner from hiding, you meant no evidence left. I didn’t track you!”

“I won’t be surprised if one of you three suddenly shows up.” She laughed.

“Of course.” She said proudly.

Avianna is one of my best friend. She is one of the people I trust the most. I didn't even explained myself, but the way she accepted me without explaining what had happened to me I really appreciated. Even, I know deep inside her she wanted me to spoke but to be fair with Zab and Reighn, who are also my best friend she remained silence.

We also have finished quickly after we talked. I volunteered to take her home but she just declined my offer, instead I just entered my afternoon class. When she was gone and out of my sight I walked out of the cafeteria. When I returned to the classroom, I just realized that the class was over and it was only an hour left before my class finished for today. I sat lazily in the armchair and leaned my head. I wanted to sleep again.

I hadn’t even fallen asleep when flying crumpled papers hit my face. Even though I want to sleep and continue to rest, my blood is heating up. I angrily picked up the crumpled paper and confronted the person who threw this f*****g paper.

“Who the hell threw this f*****g crumpled paper?” I kept asking my classmates.

Fuck!

I could see in their reaction the shock when they saw I was angry. No one bothered to talk to me and turned their attention back to what they were doing. I was look like a fool waiting to be answered but no one admits.

“Damn, no one will speak?” I can’t help myself to shout. I wanted them to punch one by one. I just walked out of the classroom before I couldn’t help myself from another trouble, suddenly I met the Teacher in my way out of the room. I could do nothing but go back to class. I looked at my classmates who were whispering and giggling.

Because I was annoyed I gradually killed them in my mind because I knew they knew who threw that crumpled paper.

“Sir, the transferee is sleeping!” one of my classmates shouted.

I didn’t realize that I had fallen asleep. I was shocked to look in front where the Teacher is looking at me dangerously. The next thing that happened was... I was sent to the Detention Office. I lazily zipped up my bag and before I could leave I glanced at whoever was shouting. Before, I could get out, someone shouted.

“Nice one guys!” and it was too late when I felt the green paint dripping on me.

Fucking s**t! I’m sticky, my nose is also sore caused by the smell of paint. I took my spare uniform from my locker and headed straight to the Clinic because that’s where I would take a bath.

The Doctor in-charge in the Clinic was surprised when I entered. I immediately went to the bathroom. I took off my top and I was wearing only a bra when someone suddenly spoke behind me.

“What are you doing here?” I was suddenly stunned by what I heard. I immediately covered my chest. My eyes widened when I saw a man and we’re still in the same bathroom!

Nobody told me that there was a man inside. He was not wearing clothes other than a towel, what is he doing here?

He dropped his jaw looking shocked and not knowing what to do and seemed to have no intention of turning away.

“Oh, s**t!” we shouted in unison. I just turned around to cover my body. Suddenly, my attention went to the Nurse who’s knocking at the outside. f**k!

“Miss! Are you there? I’m sorry we didn’t tell you right away that there was someone inside.”

Yes, and you didn’t even say! Damn!

“It’s okay I didn’t see anything.” He said proudly.

The nerve of this guy! Is he crazy? He got dressed and then he opened the door.

“I didn’t see anything even her chest.” He looked at me again, particularly at my chest. “I’m not interested in her anyway.” I just stared at him. I’m impressed with the thickness of his face, I’m ashamed of the way he looks, and he is not my type either.

“We’re sorry, Ms. Monreal.” Dean Fernandez apologized.

“I hope this will never happen again.” He just nodded in response.

I talked to Dean Fernandez, because I didn’t want the mess to get worse. I was fed up with the mess. I want to relax and be quiet even for a little while.

I went straight to the Parking lot, I was so shocked when I saw a couple was next to my car were kissing regardless of my presence.

For real? For how many more times will I see a couple were kissing before this day ends? That’s how shocked I was when I opened my car. Before I could enter, the two left to kiss. I just raised an eyebrow, the man looked at me as the woman kissed him on the neck.

He was the man I encountered in the clinic, that’s him!

“Babe, let’s go.” The woman said to the man who was still looking at me. Could I not see his face? My blood is heating up whenever I see his arrogant face!

Before I got into the car I flew up my middle finger at him and immediately pulled the car away from that place. I was on my way home when I craved ice cream, I also parked my car and entered an Ice cream parlor.

In the middle of my snack, someone approached me and sat down in front of me. His smiles that looked so excited watching me didn’t escape me. I raised an eyebrow at him before leaning back in the chair and dropped the spoon I was using.

"What do you want?" He just laughed at me.

"Continue, I'll just share a seat." He said while apologetic face was flustered on his face until his order was placed on the table, is that a strawberry flavor?

I would like to laugh because nowadays men rarely like Strawberry Flavor even ice cream. Some of them will prefer alcohol better than Ice cream. He still didn't lose his gaze on me while we were eating on the same table.

"What do you want?" I repeated my question to him earlier.

"By the way, I'm Dylan Raiden Tuazon." I looked at his hand. I think he just wants to make friends.

"Hartley." I reached for his hand and shakes our hands. I was quickly caught in my mouth when I gasped with satiety. I was very full, while the person in front of me was laughing. I feel like I’m blushing with embarrassment right now.

"Excuse me," I muttered, "I'll go ahead." he just smiled at me.

When I got home, I was no longer surprised when I saw Avianna, Reighn, and Zab in the living room, and looked like they were waiting for me. I just looked at them and raised an eyebrow. I just passed them then I went straight to my room.

I slowly got dressed then I picked up the different kinds of Chocolate I bought yesterday at Duty Free. I went down and threw it at them.

"f**k, Hartley! It hits my beautiful face." Avianna's complained.

What am I waiting for? I know they will understand why I disappeared for a few months without saying goodbye. When I finished telling the story, they immediately came to me. As what I expected, they understand me.

I woke up because of the Alarm clock, a sign that I needed to get up and prepare for my class. I also went down to the Dining area where I found my family and best friends were eating their breakfast.

What are they doing here? Why the hell are they wearing the Academia's uniform?

"Good morning!" Zab greeted me warmly, she even took my seat.

"You're now at the same school!" Mommy said happily, she was clapping with joy.

Yes, we're indeed from different schools.

"For a change, Auntie." Avianna giggled. I was still annoyed, especially with Avianna and Reighn. They even smiled at me before continuing to eat, I just stared at them.

I found out yesterday that they were the ones who planned the paint spill. They handled their papers yesterday so they were there, aside from Zab.

"Watch out Hart, maybe later she'll fell asleep in class, will you be in the same class?" Daddy said while reading the newspaper

"Yes Uncle, Hart is our classmate. We will watch over that, you know we are her grade-conscious friends. We don't want our friends to be left behind just to take a nap during our class. " Avianna replied cheerfully. I just stared at her. As if she'll gonna do that.

"Keep an eye on that sister of mine. Tell me if anyone is courting her." my elder brother, Harry said with a laugh.

I just stared at him too. I’m sure he was the one who recommended the three to study at Academia.

"Just kidding Darling." He even messed up my hair, so I stared at him even more.

We also finished eating and rode in our respective cars. I was not surprised when our cars were lined. This is what I missed!

"The slowest will be my assistant next week," Zab said excitedly.

"The loser will be the one carrying my shopping bags today," Avianna said.

Reighn and I just stared at them. We got into our respective cars. In just a minute we started driving fast.

The four of us are racing now, as usual, Zab is in the lead, as we are close to the Parking Lot. I don’t know where they went, we have been separated since we were close to the Parking Lot. I can't be beaten, because I don't want to be submissive, especially if I get lost.

I saw the three in different directions and I was surprised when someone suddenly crossed over. f**k!

My heart was beating so fast I might run into that man. I quickly stepped on the car brake, I just closed my eyes and sighed when I saw that we didn't run over the man. God!

Poor man because there are four of us around him, and we have him in the middle. I removed my seat belt and quickly got out of the car. I saw the man with his eyes closed, I was so shocked when I saw who I was about to run over.

The man at the Clinic, that rude man!
