The metallic blue BMW was not particularly incongruous in this rundown area of Portsmouth. Cars like this would often appear, having been stolen and eventually, the car would be stripped bare by the vultures of a depressed neighbourhood. Somers Town was an area that had suffered from ten years of austerity enforced onto people who struggled, even before the bankers had it away with the country’s money. Now, it was people resorting to anyway possible to earn a crust. Even the State support system seemed corrupted against the poor who did not know which way to turn. This once proud working-class area, adjacent to the affluent Southsea residences, displayed all the signs of deterioration of the urban fabric due to neglect of the social fabric; boarded-up shops, kids hanging around the street
