Aiden places the half-gallon of milk back in the snow on my balcony before sliding the glass door closed again. I guess the good thing about losing power in the winter is all the food in the refrigerator won’t spoil since we have a personal cooler outside. The bad thing about losing power in the winter is that it’s freezing. I’m wearing three sweatshirts, two sweatpants, and several scarfs. I’m not winning any fashion awards at the moment, but I don’t care. Aiden takes a seat across from me at my little dining room table. He glances down at my bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. “Don’t let your dinner get all soggy,” he jokes, giving me one of his signature winks. Then, he dips his spoon into his bowl of cereal and takes a big bite. Our area has been out of power for two days. No take-out place
