I took a step forward and removed the box from his grip, pulling open the lid while holding my breath. A stunning, slender, and delicate gold chain was hidden inside. A small, spherical pendant with a green stone was attached to it. My eyesight blurred as my eyes filled up with the beauty.
"You mentioned your favorite color was green." He snatched the box from my grip and fiddled with it, eventually disconnecting the chain. "Did you know that green is intended to make you feel calm and secure?" Given that it is my responsibility to keep you safe, I thought an emerald would be fitting." He took a step back and slipped the chain over my neck before fidgeting with the clasp.
