I smirked cockily. "This is a typical Los Angeles breakfast."
For a few seconds, she appeared even more perplexed, before finally understanding and then beaming with delight. "Can I accompany you?" As she jerked up excitedly, she spilled half a cup of coffee all over the tray.
Her joy made my heart skip a beat. I grinned like an i***t as I nodded in agreement. "You are welcome to come."
She yelled and grabbed my hand, spilling the other half of the coffee all over the tray. I removed the tray from her lap and placed it on the bed as she clung to my neck. Her body suddenly tightened against mine. "Oh," she replied gently as she stepped back. I watched the enthusiasm evaporate as I glanced at her lovely face. She appeared to be unhappy, even guilty.
