I couldn't keep a triumphant smile off my face as I went out of her room and into the hallway. I walked into my room and collapsed into my bed, my mind racing over what had just occurred. That first minute I laid eyes on her had left me wanting her more than anything else in the world. Jane was a great person, vulnerable, hurting, and beautiful all at the same time. Sure, she had been harmed, but perhaps I could restore her to health. If she would allow it, I could assist her in her recovery.
