Kassian wiped his sweaty forehead with the back of his hand, glancing up at the glaring sky. The sound of seagulls mewing and waves splashing on the ship’s corpus was a welcome change to the complete silence that had surrounded them for the past few days. The wind had died down completely, so the sails were rendered useless and all the sailors had to take turns rowing. The captain almost fainted when Kassian walked below deck and announced he wanted to join.
Sitting still was driving him crazy more than anything, so getting distracted with some physical exercise helped, even though his arms and neck were still stiff days later. He probably should have listened when the captain suggested he take more rest.
It didn’t matter now. They were almost there.
